Congratulations to Manchester City! They are the champions of England once again after beating West Ham 2-0 on the weekend. Liverpool came from behind to beat Newcastle, but they needed City to lose to overtake them, and so the Sky Blues raised the EPL trophy for the second time in three seasons. David Silva scored the first goal on the day, and captain Vincent Kompany deservedly added the second. Steven Gerrard’s wait for a Premier League winner’s medal continues another year.
Chelsea finished third with a win over Cardiff, while Arsenal bagged fourth spot and the final Champions League spot with a win as well. Everton and Spurs will be playing in the Europa League next season. Norwich, Fulham and Cardiff were the unlucky teams to be relegated, and they will be replaced by Leicester City (who All White Chris Wood plays for), Burnley and either Queens Park Rangers or Derby County.
Incredibly, the top three teams al failed to win again! That is two weeks in a row that it has happened. What it means is that after their loss to Celta Vigo, where they rested a lot of their top players, Real Madrid are now out of contention for La Liga. They still have the Champions League final to look forward to in a couple of weeks, and they will be hoping desperately that Ronaldo recovers from his injury in time for that. Barcelona and Atletico Madrid both drew their games, which keeps Atletico in first, but it will all come down to next week where they play each other in the final game of the season! Atletico need a win or a draw to win the league title. Barcelona need to win. We cannot wait!
Italy, Germany & France
All three of these leagues finished off their seasons on the weekend. Though all three were already decided. Juventus are champions of Italy, Bayern Munich are champions of Germany and Paris Saint Germain are champions of France. All three deserve it too. The Champions League will be as thrilling as usual with those three teams all competing for glory. First of all, there is a World Cup to play!
