The NRL is always doing well when the teams from Western Sydney are doing well. This was clear on Friday night as rivals Penrith and Parramatta played in front of a big crowd in the battle for the west. The Eels were playing without Jarryd Hayne which was a big loss and the Panthers were too goo with their experienced halves Peter Wallace and Jamie Soward guiding them to a 38-12 win.
Saturday saw the Roosters easily beat the Raiders 26-12 with the Roosters nearly at full strength. The Raiders continue to struggle but with the Roosters at their best, they did well to stay in the game.
The other Saturday night game saw the Cowboys come up against a Melbourne Storm team without Billy Slater and Cooper Cronk. The Storm fought hard and defended strongly but the Cowboys were determined and with Jonathan Thurston in form, they won 22-0.
Sunday saw the Warriors celebrate Simon Mannering's 200th game and 100th game as captain. They celebrated in style beating the Newcastle Knights 38-18 in a tough match. Sam Tomkins continues to improve as he was much more involved. In Brisbane, the Broncos welcomed back Sam Thaiday and put on a strong display as they beat the Manly Sea Eagles 36-10.
The St George Dragons got rid of their coach Steve Price last week but couldn't get a win for their new coach. They lost to the Rabbitohs 29-10 with the Rabbits having too much power and size in their forwards while Adam Reynolds played well as halfback.
