What Happened In The First Week Of The NRL Finals?

The weekend kicked off on Friday night with the South Sydney Rabbitohs being far too good for the Manly Sea Eagles. The Rabbitohs won 40-24, but they let the Sea Eagles score some tries late in the game as they began to relax. The Rabbitohs were led by their forwards who were far too big and strong for Manly's forwards. The Bunnies also have some great performances out wide with Lote Tuqiri scoring this try..

Centres Dylan Walker and Kirisome Auva'a were also very good, with Auva'a playing a strong game against one of the best centres in the NRL - Jamie Lyon.

Did you see the Penrith Panthers defeat the Sydney City Roosters? The Panthers won 19-18 thanks to a Jamie Soward field goal in the final few minutes. This was after Dean Whare scored a great try thanks to the never say die work of Dallin Watene-Zelezniak who performed some magic!

The Roosters were good, but the Panthers were better in a match that everyone picked the Roosters to win. Do you think the Panthers can go all the way?!

In Townsville, the Cowboys also go out to a big lead early in the game before the Brisbane Broncos started to make a come back. The Cowboys ended up holding on to win 32-20 and they look like a dangerous team to play against as they have a great mix of big forwards, talented play makers and athletic outside backs.

They will be without Tariq Sims however, as he will be suspended thanks to this late shoulder charge on Justin Hodges

On Sunday, the Bulldogs shocked the Melbourne Storm as they were ahead 24-0 at half time. This lead was too big for the Storm to come back and the Doggies ended up winning 28-4 to knock the Storm out. The Doggies will face Manly in what will be a brutal match while the Cowboys will face the Roosters.

The Panthers and the Rabbitohs have this week off to rest and relax, while the other teams go to war. Who are you picking to win this weekend? Can the Doggies continue to win? Will the Cowboys do the nearly impossible and beat the Roosters? It'll be a great weekend of footy!
