The NRL is back! Did you miss it? We certainly did and the 2015 season started in Brisbane as the Brisbane Broncos took on the South Sydney Rabbitohs. Unfortunately for the Broncos, the Rabbitohs were the much better team and showed that they will once again be one of the best teams in the NRL this season.
The Rabbitohs won 36-6 in very hot conditions which made it tough for the players. Isaac Luke was at his best for the Rabbitohs as he's very quick and powerful which makes his hard to tackle.
On Friday night the Parramatta Eels defeated the Manly Sea Eagles with the Eels looking like a dangerous side this season. The Eels won 42-12 and they have a few young players like Tepai Moeroa and Semi Radradra who are very damaging but it was Chris Sandow who was at his cheeky best and he was very impressive.
Saturday's games saw the Newcastle Knights beat the Warriors 24-14, while the Sydney Roosters looked awesome and were far better than the North Queensland Cowboys as the Roosters won 28-4. On the Gold Coast, the Gold Coast Titans played the Wests Tigers in a very close game. Pat Richards is a freak and he kicked the winning field goal to give the Tigers a 19-18 win.
The Penrith Panthers are the team to watch out for in 2015 as they aren't a flashy team but are very good at just doing what is required to win. They played the Canterbury Bulldogs who have some huge forwards but it was the Panthers who were too fast and skillful for the Doggies as they won 24-18. The Doggies fought hard to try come back but it was too little too late as the Panthers sent a message to the NRL.
Many people thought the Canberra Raiders weren't going to be very good this season but they defeated the Cronulla Sharks 24-20 and they might be a difficult team to play against this season. People also thought that the St George Dragons wouldn't be very good and after their first game, they were right as they lost to the Melbourne Storm on Monday night 12-4.
The best team performance cam from the Rabbitohs and the Roosters this weekend. They were awesome last season and look like they have gone to a new level again. My player of the week was Mitchell Pearce who plays halfback for the Roosters because he controlled the game against the Cowboys and set up two of their tries.
