NRL Round Four

The South Sydney Rabbitohs lost their first game of the season on Friday, they were beaten by the Parramatta Eels 29-16 with the Eels playing very well. Chris Sandow was great against his former team and we saw John Folau, the younger brother of Israel Folau played his first NRL game. The Eels are a dangerous team but they will need to keep winning games, not just win games randomly.

The Bulldogs grabbed a dramatic late win over the Tigers with Moses M'Bye kicking a field goal to give the Doggies a 25-24 win.

Saturday saw the Newcastle Knights continue their unbeaten run as they defeated the Penrith Panthers 26-14. The Panthers had a few injuries but the Knights were once again very impressive with halfback Jarrod Mullen dominating, while Dane Gagai continued to impress and he could find himself playing State of Origin if he keeps this up.

A late interception try to the lightning fast James Roberts gave the Gold Coast Titans the win over Cronulla Sharks. Both teams battled hard, but the Titans got the edge with the late try to win 24-22. The Titans had Roberts who is one of the fastest players in the NRL but the Sharks also showed that they have some speed with young Valentine Holmes also playing very well despite his team loosing.

The St George Dragons worked hard to beat the Manly Sea Eagles 12-4 in a game that didn't give us many highlights. It's a great win for the Dragons though as they have struggled this season so far but they showed that when they hold on to the ball, they have enough attacking talent to trouble teams.

On Sunday the Brisbane Broncos were too good for the Warriors thanks to a big first half for the Broncos. They Warriors came back but they couldn't seal the deal with the Broncos holding on to win 24-16. Also on Sunday the Roosters were far too good for the struggling Canberra Raiders, with the Roosters winning 34-6. It wasn't all good for the Roosters with Blake Ferguson who has played well since returning the NRL leaving the field injured and he will be out for a few weeks.

The North Queensland Cowboys got their first win of the season thanks to a Jonathan Thurston field goal in golden point. The Cowboys came from behind against the Melbourne Storm with Thurston putting on a show in the last few minutes to get the scores level and then to win the game 18-17.
