Sri Lanka is a little island off the coast of India and they love cricket. They came to New Zealand with one of the best batsmen in the world Kumar Sangakkara ready to see what the Black Caps were made of.
The Black Caps returned from playing Pakistan and this was their only Test series before they start to prepare for the World Cup. They played two Test's against Sri Lanka and won both as they continue to defend their home fields with impressive cricket.
The first Test saw the Black Caps play much better than Sri Lanka, thanks to Brendon McCullum who hit 195 runs off 134 balls. He hit 18 fours and 11 sixes! McCullum simply smashed it which is exactly what you want from your captain, which made life very tough for Sri Lanka.
However, it was Tim Southee and Trent Boult who really did the damage. Both these two guys are very good bowlers and were too good for Sri Lanka and both Southee and Boult picked up 13 of the 20 wickets needed to give the Black Caps a big win.
The second Test match was a lot closer, but it still ended with a big win to the Black Caps. This time it was Kumar Sangakkara who was awesome for Sri Lanka as he hit 203 to give Sri Lanka the advantage. Thankfully for the Black Caps, we have Kane Williamson who is one of the best young batsmen in the world. He played beautifully, getting 242 runs with help from little BJ Watling who got 142 runs.
This gave the Black Caps the lead and once again the bowlers did the job as they bowled Sri Lanka out for 196. That gave the Black Caps another win and they won the series 2-0.
It was great to see Brendon McCullum and Kane Williamson batting well and they are becoming heroes. We also have some very good bowlers which means we are a cricket team that the world needs to watch out for!
