Kiwi County Tour #14 (County Championship Update)

All does is score dem runs.

Neil Wagner's time with Essex came to an end, Matt Quinn's still out with back woes and James Franklin didn't play. There's always a positive twist on the Kiwi County Tour and after highlighting Jeetan Patel's odd little Blackcaps excursion over the past 12 months, Lord Jeetz did exactly what we've come to expect from the great man as he smacked a 50 with the bat.

With Wagner, Quinn and Franklin all out of action, we were robbed of a monumental occasion as Essex took on Middlesex in a day/night fixture #Bummer. Wagner has effectively been replaced by Pakistan seamer Mohammad Amir and as we're running light on KCT troops, I'm going to keep a close eye on Amir during his stint in County cricket. This came with Wagner's approval, he gave Amir a solid reference, although I didn't really need one as Amir is my favourite seamer in world cricket.

Kieran Noema-Barnett

Sussex vs Gloucestershire

Gloucs were away to Sussex and played out a draw with rain rubbing out much of this game. Noeman-Barnett has found his niche as a solid medium-pacer for Gloucs and as the third seamer, he took 1/51 off 14 overs @ 3.64rpo as Sussex reached 358/9dec.

The rain forced this game to get funky and Gloucs then declared themselves on 150/1 to try make this a contest, so Noema-Barnett wasn't required to bat, nor was he required to bowl. Sussex were treated to a second-string bowling attack from Gloucs as they again tried to push this game along, feeding Sussex some runs and Sussex obliged, scoring @ 7.81rpo and declaring on 142/1 off 18.1 overs.

That gave both teams a crack at a result as Gloucs had a target of 351 to chase. Things were looking sketchy though as they fell to 84/5, step in Noema-Barnett batting at No.8 to plug the hole and finish on 37* off 93 balls (39.78sr). This saw Gloucs finish up of 212/6 and although Noema-Barnett didn't play a dominant hand, he did low key save Gloucs from any embarrassment.

Jeetan Patel

Warwickshire vs Lancashire

I really don't think Lord Jeetz is going to soar past 50 wickets this season and that's a major downbuzz. It is however countered by the mythical batting ability of Jeetz and as long as Jeetz is contributing in some fashion, I'm happy to keep playing that Young Thug.

Jeetz took 1/56 off 16 overs @ 3.5rpo, dismissing England batsman Jos Buttler lbw for 2. The champion Shiv Chanderpaul carried Lancashire to 273 with a knock of 117 and Warwickshire then took a lead thanks to Jeetz sensational innings. Jeetz helped take his team from 184/7 to 284/8 thanks to 50 off 86 balls.

Warwickshire finished up of 321 and this game fizzled to a draw with Lancashire on 178/4. Unfortuntely Lord Jeetz could snare another wicket, bowling 21 overs @ 2.47rpo without reward. Forget those wickets though as Lord Jeetz's last three innings with the willow contain; 71, 8 and 50. Jeetz top-scored in Warwickshire's previous game (across both innings) with that 71 and his 50 in this game was the third highest-score of the game as Jonathan Trott (56) and opener Andrew Umeed (113) did their job.
