Kiwi County Tour: County Championship #9 (We Back)

Pub lunch on me.

The Kiwi County Tour lads are back on the bus, as the return of County Championship cricket overlaps with women's T20 Super League. County Championship cricket is also overlapping with the men's T20 Blast in a rather complex England domestic cricket calendar, meaning that some teams are playing T20 Blast, some are playing County cricket and to add to the nigglyness, many of the lads have gapped it to the Caribbean for the Caribbean Premier League.

That leaves us with Lockie Ferguson, Jeetan Patel and Kane Williamson, holding it down for the KCT fellas. I ain't complaining with that trio as Williamson is obviously a welcome inclusion and Ferguson has more intrigue about his performances in County cricket as he looks to translate his Blackcaps limited overs work into County cricket. Or perhaps more notably, I'm intrigued in how Ferguson's fantastic Plunket Shield record translates into four-day cricket in England.

Lockie Ferguson - Derbyshire

Playing with Derbyshire in the T20 Blast, Ferugson has stuck around for County cricket, having an up and down first County game for Derbyshire. Ferguson was impressive with 4w in 26 overs @ 4.07rpo in the first innings, as Derbyshire dismissed Sussex for 440 and this is a fine example of what has been so impressive about Ferguson in Plunket Shield cricket as he got through a hefty 26 overs.

No Derbyshire bowler bowled more than 22 overs in that innings and Ferguson continues to show an ability to steam in for long spells. Derbyshire were then all out for 389 with Ferguson getting a first ball duck and with Sussex looking to advance the game quickly, Ferguson was then hit for 7.20rpo off his 10 overs, without wicket in the second innings. Chasing 405 to win, Derbyshire were rolled for 161 and Ferguson avoided a pair by scoring 1 run.

Kane Williamson - Yorkshire

As you'd expect, Williamson was a tad more consistent in his performances for Yorkshire as they lost to Worcestershire by an innings and 186 runs. Batting first, Yorkshire scored 216 and Williamson scored 87 of them, while the second highest knock came from the #10 batsmen who scored 38.

Yorkshire then let Worcs enjoy a lovely batting innings, scoring 572/7dec. In reply, it was again the Williamson show for Yorkshire as the kiwi skipper hit 61 and no other Yorkshire batsman was able to pass 20 as they were rolled for 170. Easy win for Worcs, the type of loss which is all good on the KCT bus as Williamson did the best he could with little support from a rather talented Yorkshire team; Adam Lyth, Gary Ballance, Tim Bresnan, David WIlley all on board.

Jeetan Patel - Warwickshire

Lord Jeetz didn't have to do too much for Warwickshire as they steam-rolled Gloucestershire by an innings and 47 runs. Patel did take 2w in 12 overs @ 2.33rpo to start the rollin' in the first innings, Warwickshire had Gloucs all out for just 127 and they then replied with 277 all out, featuring 7 off 7 from Patel.

Gloucs were then dismissed for 103 as Warwickshire sealed a big win. Patel didn't need to bowl in the second dig, it was all about the seamers.
