The Black Sticks women have touched up Canada in two Tests 6-0 and 5-1, ahead of the Hawkes Bay Festival starting next weekend.
This result is fairly understandable with the Black Sticks women hunting for an Olympic medal and Canada not being overly flash at hockey, so the fact that the kiwis were able to put on 11 goals past the 19th ranked Canadians is somewhat pleasing.
Charlotte Harrison scored a double in either game to finish with 4 goals while Olivia Merry and Kayla Whitelock both finished with 2 goals each.
It's hard to get overly excited about these results, other than it being a good hit out before the Hawkes Bay Festival. These sorts of games/series allow the Black Sticks to work on their defensive structures and how they put pressure on their opponent along with their attacking systems.
In the big scheme of things, with 2016 being an Olympic year, these results are nice as the Black Sticks look to tick off certain boxes with each game/series. Other than that, it doesn't really matter and we move on to the Hawkes Bay Festival.
