Hard & Fast: Following Super Duper Lydia #7

Lydia Ko couldn't quite defend her Swinging Skirts title and flipped her previous form on its head as she saved her worst round for last in San Francisco.

Ko shot rounds of 68, 71, 73 and 75 to finish -1, tied for 6th.

No one who started the final day managed to shoot a final round under par, thanks to windy conditions, so no real dramas for Ko, she just couldn't squeeze out a few more birdies to do any better than 6th.

Ko celebrated her 19th birthday yesterday and while we love her, these results show just how difficult it is to win consistently in professional golf, especially on the LPGA tour. Where Ko is awesome is that this was her 6th top-10 finish of 2016 and while she may not win every tournament, she's consistently amongst the best at such a young age.

Japan's Haru Nomura ended up winning, shooting rounds of 65, 70, 71 and 73. Ko finished 8 shots off the pace with Nomura shooting 5 birdies in the final round, finishing -9.

Nomura and Ko are two of three golfers to win multiple tournaments this year and it was Nomura who beat Ko at the ISPL Handa Women's Open earlier this year.

Ko was at her funky best as she discussed the windy conditions via LPGA...

"Just standing still. I said, hey, if I was half my weight, I'd probably be flying away like a balloon."

It doesn't look like Ko will play at the Volunteers Of America Texas Shootout, so keep an eye out later in the week as we'll take stock of Ko's start to 2016.

Super duper Lydia still leads the prize-money ranks, she's still the only golfer on tour with over $1mil prize-money.

Super duper Lydia still has the lowest scoring average of 69.281.

Super duper Lydia is ranked 6th in birdies with 133, averaging 4.28 birdies per-round.

Super duper Lydia is still 1st in the Rolex Player Of The Year rankings with 128 points, next best is Ha Na Jang on 70 points.
