Football Ferns 0 - 2 Netherlands

Bugger, not the best preparation for the Ferns ahead of the Rio Olympics. However it was just that - preparation for the Olympics and as long as coach Tony Readings and the players learn whatever they gotta learn then all good.

Shanice van de Senden scored twice, the game was at the Rabobank IJmond Stadium, a little north west of Amsterdam.

Black Sticks Women Beat Korea, Men Keep Drawing #SketchBook

Our Black Sticks women continue to steam-roll their way trough the Hawkes Bay Cup, beating Korea 6-0 in the quarter-finals. Goals came via Anita Punt's double, Olivia Merry, Sophie Cocks, Sam Charlton and Pippa Hayward. Next up is a trans-Tasman semi-final tomorrow evening while Japan play China in a funky little Asian rivalry match, two rivalry semi-finals is cool.

The men have drawn 3-3 against Malaysia and 1-1 against Canada in a pretty disappointing start to their Sultan Azlan Shah Cup campaign. Nick Wilson scored a double and skipper Simon Child also scored in game one before Nic Woods scored a drag-flick in a frustrating draw against those niggly Canadians who seem to like facing off against the kiwis. Next up for the lads is a crucial games against Pakistan, who touched up Canada 3-1.

Packed for another ✈️ to Malaysia, looking forward to reading a few stories about the legends from the '76 team

Danny Lee 2nd at 2016 Masters

Tricky one here because the PGA Masters leaderboard has Danny as a Korean, not a kiwi which is a bummer but it's rather obvious judging by Danny's humour and cool nature that he is a kiwi. Absolutely no disrespect to the Korean homies out there - you've gifted us with Danny and Lydia so shout out to y'all.

Lee shout 68 in the first round and is -4, while Jordan Spieth who is the Lydia Ko of men's golf right now is leading the pack on -6. Lee's actually tied for 2nd with Shane Lowry (Ireland) and it's going to be interesting to see whether Lee can kick on a wee bit; we didn't really expect this from Lee so who knows if Lee is for real, for real or if he'll fade.

We do however know that Lee is the mantis, borderline cult hero status.
