Well, this is it my friend. We’ve stomped and spun our way to the last round of the regular season, with sixteen more games to decide once and for all which twelve teams get to continue into the real stuff. Sixteen games of which a handful have some incredibly massive repercussions to them while the rest are basically just for pride and giggles.
Great news! We’re done with Thursday night games! And because the college football season is over (didn’t even know it’d started), that means these Sunday arvo games are now a regular thing. Gives me more time to write the ol’ predictions, so no worries on this end.
As Stevie grabbed his 16th rebound early in the third the question became whether he could surpass his career best of 20 against Washington in January 2015. Been a long time waiting to crack that egg… but when he did he got there with time remaining in the third quarter.

In their defence, the Breakers did play some defence on Sunday. For the first time all season they kept a team under 80 points, giving the Sydney Kings some real hiccups as everybody not named Andrew Bogut shot 18 of 52 for 34.6% from the field.

All of which has led us to this point and it’s a confusing crossroads as far as Sean Marks’ next move is concerned. All this forward momentum, even in the darkest times, but now they’re facing a bit of uncomfortable stasis.
Against Blake Griffin, Andre Drummond and the Piston lads he clearly decided it was time to unleash the beast and, as is always the case with Steve, it all started on the defensive end…
The sense cannot be made. This has been a solid Cowboys defence all season but they hadn’t done anything like this before. Nobody had, the Saints had only twice been kept under 30 points in 2018 and never under 20… let alone with just ten.
Something else seems to be going on too though, something that drastically affects how well a team can play defence (and offence too for that matter). Something which has gotten Kevin Braswell in a little trouble and which has lightened the weight of his wallet.
That’s the future of the NFL and I’m not completely comfortable with it… every middling team out there is going to start trying to emulate these two offences and it’s going to be very messy… sorta like basketball teams thinking they have to play like the Golden State Warriors even though they don’t have any all stars, let alone four of them.
Ah now what do we have here? Thunder against the Warriors? Westbrook against Durant? Adams against Draymond… okay Draymond was injured so we didn’t get that battle (out with a sore toe, presumably injured it kicking somebody in the nuts) but the rest of it was all in place.
It’s very easy to overlook the continued excellence of the game’s best players. Swept up in the storylines of Patrick Mahomes, Jared Goff, Drew Brees… all that lot. And each of them has been incredible, no doubt.
Ah yes but what about the Stache Bros reunion? New York Knicks in town, that means Enes Kanter, right? Sure does friend. Enes scored 19 points off the bench, perfectly matching Steven Adams’ total.
