The False 9 with Senor Spectre

Liverpool’s title to lose? I’m not so sure that’s the case. The premier league has upsets every week and I reckon this title race will go down to the wire. Chelsea vs Liverpool in a fortnight is key to the run in but similarly the games against the lower sides are not so easy these days with relegation threats at stake. Man City found that out the hard way after drawing with Sunderland earlier in the week. Liverpool’s win over City was impressive in the sense they did it without both Suarez and Sturridge turning up as such. Normally if that happens, Liverpool fall to pieces with no backup. Now young Raheem Sterling has stepped up with the likes of Philip Coutinho and co. They might not be household names, but to win a title you need the grafters who can perform a role week in week out. Liverpool players are doing this at the moment. The thing that puts Liverpool in a theoretically better position also is the fact that they had no European football to worry about and thus are a lot fresher for it. Arsenal, Chelsea and City have had all these extra matches to play and you can see it has taken its toll on Arsenal’s thin squad. City and Chelsea have the resources to play in a lot of comps but it doesn’t take away from the fact that so many lineup changes between matches can cause consistency to go out the window.

People have said if Liverpool win then football wins. It’s a win for the clubs out there who aren’t all about the big money. It would be a breath of fresh air if they won and who can really say the great Steven Gerrard doesn’t deserve a premier league medal after all these years of loyalty to the Kop. The tears he shed after the City win was a bit girlish but because its Stevie G, we’ll let it slip.

Everton vs Man United

I’ve just heard through the grapevine that David Moyes needs to claim a Europa league spot for next year, otherwise he is gooooooone. This sets the perfect scenario as an Arsenal fan. United go to Goodison Park, they take 3 points which will assist Moyes reaching his goal and will dent Everton’s chance of reaching the top 4. Everton play some great football. Martinez has them purring and pushing the glass ceiling that comes with their budget. Romelu Lukaku needs to get back to scoring goals pretty damn soon if they want to make the top 4. Ever since he cut his hair he hasn’t been the same… In saying that the service he has got lately hasn’t been great with Seamus Coleman seemingly running out of gas and Leon Osman looking his age. If young Ross Barkley can carry on scoring goals they might go alright, but it will be tough against United who wont give away 3 points easily.

Da boooys

United will look for Juan Mata to lead the way this weekend and be the creative hub for the team. He plays best down the spine and will look to make the others around him look good and provide some spark. I wouldn’t be surprised to see Hernandez get a start, as he has looked good everytime he comes on. Surely Moyes can give him a starting spot. What does he have to lose?? With Hernandez’s World Cup aspirations on the edge, I reckon he will give everything possible to the cause, to boost his own personal ambitions and United’s. I would love to see the kid do well because he just seems shackled at United. Let the Mexican loose I say.

Prediction: I like the look of Man United in this spot. Everton will be fragile after throwing away the lead in the 4th place race against Palace and ma struggle to get up for the game if they have seen Arsenal earlier in the day dispatch Hull. United to take it out 2-1.
