The FIFA Under 20 World Cup. It’s always a fascinating competition… although you already know that because New Zealand hosted the last one. Ah yes, what an outstanding spectacle it was too.
Congratulations to Serbia, an amazing achievement and a fully deserved one.
Folks, we have our finalists.
Ah, penalties. The fascination of the neutral and the torture of the emotionally invested.
Instead of folding at the biggest challenge this team would face, they rose to the occasion with their best performance of the tournament.
With every passing game, we’re one step closer to finding the 2015 U20 World Cup champions.
It’s funny/tragic just how much the manner of elimination affects the perception of it.
Ladies and Gentlemen, we have our round of 16 finalists.
Hence nobody needed to freak out over the America result.
And on the seventh day, nobody rested. Indeed, the stakes were never higher.
Every major tournament there’s always at least one smaller nation that punches well above their weight.
Tell ya what, some of the goals at this tournament have been absolutely outstanding.
Let’s write this one off. If we played the USA 100 more times, we’d probably lose 98 and draw 2.
Four days in and the goals continue to flow with the rain.
There are more important things than the result, sometimes.
And so the best young footballers on the planet have descended on New Zealand...
So close to victory, not far from defeat. We'll take it.
We don’t know where these promising careers will end up but they’re already well on the way to wherever that is.
