Domestic Daily - November 14
Two matches in the Super Smash whack whack competition took place this week, with a big old weekend of T20 cricket ahead. Eden Park will play host with the Auckland Aces set to play 3 games this weekend, back to back to back, boom. I said before that once the Aces get their game tally level with the other teams that they should start to show what they are made of so make sure you tune in to see how if they deliver ... or not.
Game Sitch (Situation for those who aren't very cool)
- The Canterbury Kings couldn't quite chase down 184 from the Northern District Knights. The Kings managed to get 164 in reply as the Knights got off to a flyer thanks to Daniel Flynn and Anton Devcich.
- The Otago Volts set Central Districts a rather lame 134 to chase, which the Stags did rather easily. George Worker ensured that the Stags wouldn't have too many problems with the chase after they bowled the Volts out, Adam Milne picked up 3 wickets.
Give Him A Good Dinner
- Flynn and Devcich deserved a mean munch. Anytime both your openers get 50's, it's a good time and they will be looking to get the Knights off to a good start each and every game.
- Scott Kuggeleijn and Adam Milne, two young pace bowlers who look the goods. They both picked up 3 wickets a piece and were impressive for different reasons. Kuggs has been a top performer for a while which is great as a young lad and Milne, well Milne simply has to keep performing at domestic level to build his case.
Observations From The Observatory
- Do they Knights have the best middle order in the comp? They didn't really put a whole heap of runs on the bored vs the Kings, but on paper Dean Brownlie, Darryl Mitchell and Dan Vettori is mighty impressive.
- Logan van Beek, keep doing a job mate. He repped the Dutch at T20 World Cup but hopefully he keeps impressing on our shores. Kuggeleijn, Milne and van Beek are all great young cricketers.
- May Roneel Hira please keep getting runs at the top of the order. Thank you.
