Domestic Daily - Bring Back Peter!

Game Sitch

  • Otago vs Northern Districts - Otago could only work their way to 180 in reply to ND's 380, with Ish Sodhi bagging 5/27 in 10 overs. The Knights then set Otago 502 to win with Joe Carter helping ND to 474 with his first hundred. Otago ended up on 474, close but no cigar. Michael Bracewell and Mark Craig both hit hundreds for Otago while Scott Kuggeleijn (4), Graeme Aldridge (3) and Sodhi (3) worked hard to get the win for the Knights.
  • Canterbury vs Central Districts - After Doug Bracewell picked up 6 wickets, CD got themselves a little lead thanks to the impressive youngster Will Young's 82. Peter Fulton's 208 helped the Cantabs set the Stags 377 to win. They couldn't quite get there with Logan Van Beek picking up 4 wickets.
  • Wellington vs Auckland - The Firebirds put 199 on the board first up, with young Auckland pace-man Matt Quinn picking up 4. The Aces only put 205 up in reply, Mark Gillespie saying "follow me" with 4 wickets. Wellington's 2nd crack only resulted in 133 thanks to Michael Bates 4 wicket haul, which gave Auckland a target of 128. Colin Munro's 59 helped the Aces get there and it was the only 50+ score in the game.

Get That Man A Mean Feed

  • Honeslty where do I begin? Well Peter Fulton deserves a hangi for his big effort.
  • Sodhi's 8 wicket haul means he and Joe Carter will be munching on a few BBQ Bacon Cheeseburgers along with Brad Wilson who hit a 60 odd and 82.
  • The Bracewell clan deserve a big roast, Dougie and Michael shouldn't do no dishes either! Mark Craig deserves an invite as well.
  • Colin Munro, they only man to a half century in his game deserves $2 worth of hot chippies.

Observations From The Observatory

  • Will Young is definitely someone worthy of your eye balls. He's a young batsman with plenty of talent, but is in a Central Districts team that perhaps lacks a bit of oomph. The Stags will rely a bit on Young, which could be great for him.
  • Scott Kuggeleijn continues to make a compelling case for higher honours, the dude just keeps on picking up wickets.
  • Neil Wagner's 4 wicket haul was handy, but I'm curious to know where he sits in the BlacK Cap rankings. There's a few young quicks coming through and Wagner will need to keep performing at this level to retain his spot on the ladder.
  • Wellington have one of the most uninspiring batting line ups in the Plunket Shield. In fact their bowling line up isn't much better besides Mark Gillespie and he's an older statesman, so is Brent Arnel.
  • Don't bring back Peter, it's a joke.
