The Plunket Shield is back folks, which is glorious but unfortunately we had a day's play rained out which is a bit of a bummer. Here's the jist...

  • The Auckland Aces batted out their first day against Northern Districts, reaching 251/5 thanks to a solid 75 from Robbie O'Donnell. Brad Cachopa's not out on 42 and Joel Baker was the pick of the bowlers for the Knights, picking up 3 wickets.
  • Ending the day 245/7, the Wellington Firebirds will be keen to notch a few more runs on the board tomorrow morning. Canterbury are in a strong position having taken 7 wickets, thanks to 3 from leggy Todd Astle. The Firebirds got off to a decent start with Deepak Joon making 55 on debut along with Stephen Murdoch's 66.

Get That Man A Mean Feed

  • It wasn't an action packed day, so I'll just have a munch myself.

Observations From The Observatory

  • Vishi Jeet was given a run by the Aces with this young lad owning a fair bit of talent. He's a left arm tweaker who can bat and apparently sing, this might be him, it's unconfirmed but the Aces looking cap in the background may suggest Frank Ocean is playing for the Aces.
  • The Aces also included Brett Randell as 12th man, he's a good seam bowling prospect as well.
  • Wellington's Deepak Joon is another interesting case with research suggesting he's a 32 year old former first class batsmen from India. He's had a few stints in Wellington and has got a run with the Firebirds, all the power to you sir.
  • Not out on 75 is a nice spot for Rob O'Donnell to be in, hopefully we'll see him get a big score and kick on with the bat for the Aces
