2019 Kiwi County Tour: Senor van Beek Returns

Other than the impressive return of Logan van Beek to Derbyshire's 1st 11, not too many shenanigans on the Kiwi County Tour bus this week. Van Beek came up against his Wellington Firebirds comrade Jeetan Patel, with Derbyshire getting a 5-wicket win over Lord Jeetz's Warwickshire, along with van Beek backing that up in a two-game stretch for Derbyshire.

Ross Taylor

Middlesex vs Somerset

I'll start with Ross Taylor though, who grabbed 6 runs off 11 balls for Middlesex in their 118-run win over Somerset. Taylor was the only Middlesex batsman not to reach 20 runs in this innings and the only top-four batsman who didn't reach 40 as Middlesex hit 364/6 and then defended it fairly easily, dismissing Somerset for 246.

Taylor's preparing for the World Cup and after an opening score of 64 on the Kiwi County Tour, he's followed it up with scores of 5 and 6. We know King Rossco doesn't dwell in the single digits for too long, but I'll be keeping a close eye on his form in England with that World Cup in mind.

Logan van Beek

Derbyshire vs Warwickshire, Lancashire vs Derbyshire

Van Beek stormed back into the Derbyshire team with 3w @ 6.90rpo in 10 overs, sending both Warwickshire openers back to their shed within the first 10 overs. This helped Derbyshire keep their opponent to 288/7 in 50 overs and they managed to chase that down in 46.3 overs, without van Beek having to bat.

Derbyshire then suffered defeat to Lancashire, losing by 30 runs. Van Beek took 1w @ 7.40rpo and again dismissed an opener, only that this time it was after England batsman Keaton Jennings had scored 84. Lancashire put up 239/6 from their 38 over and van Beek was stranded on 6* with Derbyshire unable to do better than 209/7 in this 38-over game.

Van Beek currently has 7w @ 28.71avg/6.48rpo.

Jeetan Patel

Derbyshire vs Warwickshire

Not required to bat in the first innings vs Derbyshire, Lord Jeetz could only managed 1w @ 5.10rpo in his 10 overs as Derbyshire cruised to victory. Jeetz has taken 1+ wicket in five of the six games he has played and despite the minor haul vs Derbyshire, he is ranked 9th for bowlers with 13w @ 21.69avg/4.94rpo.
