2019 Kiwi County Tour: Creeping In The Background
England is currently hosting the Cricket World Cup, meaning County Championship cricket has slid into the background and we are left with Lord Jeetz and the Dutch Freak on the KCT bus. It's been a while since we fired up the bus to pick up the lads and see what they have been up to and despite my cricketing heart always living on the KCT bus with the lads, writing about the Blackcaps and recording all these podcasts has seen me neglect my true love.
Jeetan Patel
Warwickshire vs Hampshire: 8 wickets (6/2), 27 runs (17/10).
Warwickshire vs Somerset: 1 wicket (1/0), 4 runs (0/4).
Warwickshire vs Surrey: 12 wickets (4/8), 8 runs (8/0).
Warwickshire vs Nottinghamshire: 10 wickets (6/4), 23 runs (23).
Having finished up in the Royal London One-Day Cup with 16 wickets @ 24avg/5.12rpo, Jeetan Patel has exploded into County form having taken 31w in four games. Patel now leads all wicket-takers in Division One with 35w @ 16.34avg/2.33rpo, which is 5w more than the next best bowler and that record is good enough to make Patel the best bowler overall considering that West Indian seamer Ravi Rampaul leads Division Two with 26w @ 20.46avg/2.88rpo.
Here is some Lord Jeetz bowling delights...
Logan van Beek
Derbyshire vs Glamorgan: 1 wicket (1/0), 5 runs (4/1).
Derbyshire vs Leicestershire: 4 wickets (3/1), 41 runs (15*/26).
Derbyshire vs Durham: 2 wickets (0/2), 12 runs (12/0).
Another solid stint for Logan van Beek with Derbyshire, taking a wicket in 4 of the 6 innings he bowled in. Van Beek only played five RLODC games for Derbyshire, taking 7w and he now has 13w @ 33.92avg/2.87rpo in the four-day format; getting that average below 30 will be a lovely little objective for van Beek in the next few games.
