While we are aiming for consistent top-10 finishes, if Lydia Ko is living inside the top-20 throughout the 2019 LPGA tour, that's a fairly impressive effort. Having missed the cut last week, Ko finished tied for 19th at LPGA Thailand and this gives Ko a decent start to the year with two top-20 finishes in three tournaments.

Ko's scoring average last weekend was bang on 70, which is also a delightful stat as she shot rounds of +1, -5, -1 and -3 to ultimately end up -8. South Korea's Amy Yang won the event at -22 and I'm going to continue to relay the message of the LPGA Tour's strength and depth; seven different nations were represented in the top-10 (including tied spots). Ko was only 3 shots outside that top-10 as well and while there's a hefty difference between Ko and the winner Yang, Ko wasn't far off another top-10 result.

Tomorrow, Ko gets underway in the Women's World Championship in Singapore. This is the last tournament of the early-season Asian swing, before heading back to United States of America and we are once again hoping for a top-20 result. The niggly thing here is that the Sentosa Golf Club (in Singapore) is the longest course of the season so far, which doesn't bode well given that Ko's driving is her biggest weakness; Ko is 121st in Average Driving Distance and as above, Ko is 98th in Driving Accuracy.

With that in mind, how Ko performs in Singapore will be very interesting as she is generally playing good golf but Singapore presents a fresh challenge. A top-20 finish in Singapore would signal that Ko is truckin' along nicely and give Ko a lovely platform from which she can build upon when the tour returns to USA.
