Lydia Ko Mixtape 2019: Couple A Wobbles
April was a tough month for Lydia Ko on the LPGA Tour as the kiwi golfer played two tournament, for two finishes in the 40's. This came after Ko had found some consistency via four-straight top-20 finishes and then Ko slipped up, with a tied-44 at the ANA Inspiration and then tied-42nd at the Los Angeles Open last weekend.
The good thing now is that Ko's back in action tonight, at the LPGA Mediheal Championship and based on her results this year, Ko tends to do better when playing consistently. Of the eight rounds Ko played in these last two tournaments, Ko shot three rounds under par and one even, resulting in overall scores of +3 and +1.
While I was hopefully that Ko had settled into some mid-term good form, this is all far more reflective of the general vibes from Ko. The battle for Ko isn't so much about rediscovering her dominant form, it's laying the foundations of consistently solid LPGA form and we have encountered a little blip on what was otherwise a nice start to 2019.
As you'll see below, Ko's stats haven't taken an almighty dip and this could be further reason to stay optimistic about Ko getting back into that top-20 realm. Below, I compare Ko's stats from after the Kia Classic to now, after the ANA Inspiration and LA Open...
