A Week In Hip Hop

Vince Staples is definitely one of my favourite rappers doing the rounds and has recently signed to Def Jam, which shouldn't really hinder his coolness. Here's the first question of an interview he did with Pepsi which is pretty smooth...

For anyone out there who has yet to hear your music, how would you describe your sound?

My music is a reflection of my life and my little story, as everyone’s should be. I don’t try to narrow it down to one thing. Where a lot of people, artists and rappers especially, mess up is being narrow minded — feeling like they have to act a certain way, be a certain way and fit inside the box they’re trying to fit in. I think that’s stupid because there’s only one you. If you market yourself and make your music yourself, it can’t get old. Honestly, that’s what I consider my music to be.

If you thought Freddie Gibbs was just about being hard on the track, a few drug dealing references here and there as well as the mandatory female references, check yourself. Gibbs is one of the freshest and hardest lyricists in the game right now and dropped this freestyle for everyone's favourite Brit Tim Westwood. Damn I wish I was Tim Westwood.

Do not watch this while you have the munchies. You'll get very hungry and you'll probably settle for a pie or something that's no where near as awesome as what Action Bronson chows down on. Peep how Bronson and Noisey have made this series awesomely entertaining as well.

The last installment of the A$AP Rocky docy. Sad to see you go :(

B-Real, of obvious Cypress Hill fame does this thing called the Smokebox where he and his guest will basically hotbox his whip. This week he welcomed Ab-Soul which made for pretty interesting viewing and listening as the two shared wisdom.

Speaking of Cypress Hill, they like Weezer. Cool huh...
