Diary of a Warriors Fan

After a week of some of the most petty bullshit I have ever seen in my life, from those who are meant to provide leadership, it would have been a real worry if the Warriors didn't show up.

Thankfully for the sanity of the nation, they did show up and showed an attitude that we've waited to see. Defence is all about attitude so they say and the lads fronted up, not as good as we would hope but they did alright against a angry pack of Dogs.

In the end we were well and truly outclassed. We had a stout attitude but not the winning attitude.

The Bulldogs grew an arm and a leg when the game was on the line, we fumbled and bumbled.

Everyone was pretty good though let's be honest. The big boys had a tough ask against quality Bulldogs pack and the likes of Jacob Lillyman and Sam Rapira did their best. Maybe if Ben Matulino hadn't got injured things might have been different, cos damn, he looked the goods on the edge. Offloads, hard running and a bit of footwork ... it's hard to see Benny Mats moving back to the middle.

Despite a much improved effort, the game never looked like it was the Warriors. Ahead on the scoreboard but behind in the 'I've got a feeling' stakes. The control of our playmakers is a definite work on, maybe that would have given me a bit more confidence ... they (and the team in general) seem to lack any ability to dictate the pace of the game and where the game is to be played ............ down their f$^&$% end!

We saw the debut of Siliva Havili who is a prospect to keep an eye on. He's waited a long time, earning his stripes in Under 20s and NSW Cup but is a dynamic runner who'll give a bit of an edge. Interestingly he came on with Nathan Friend still on the pitch (much like Leuluai did) which gives the Warriors a bit more speed and agility while also not loosing much D.

Charlie Gubb was enthusiastic, Dominique Peyroux had a big void to fill replacing Matulino but he was alright. Ngani Laumape offers so much power which with Koni next up is a big 1, 2 punch ... then Manu!? The sets always seemed to be off to a good start, just some patience and calm was needed.

It had a first game of the season feel, which I guess it was. All we wanted to see was an effort and we got that, let's hope they can have a decent week on the training pitch without the bullshit that is put on them by those who are supposed to be the leaders of the club.
