NRL Round 13 Preview

Sea Eagles vs Bulldogs

Matchup - Kieran Foran vs Josh Reynolds. Assuming Foran is fit and well, this could be a great match up of two aggressive defensive players who both play important attacking roles as well.

Key man - Tony Williams, playing against his old club could give the Dogs impact and offloads on the edge. Manly are pretty solid defensively so the skills that T-Rex offer will help break down their D patterns.

Keep an eye on - Who instigates the dramas with the big boys. Both Jason King and David Klemmer have taken it upon themselves to spark their respective teams and there's plenty of angry big men to do the same.

Verdict - Manly <12. Assuming their key players play. It'll definitely be worth watching.

Eels vs Cowboys

Matchup - Will Hopoate/Willie Tonga vs Brent Tate/Kane Linnett. Hopoate and Linnett will line up against each other while the veterans and former team mates Tonga and Tate will also be a great battle.

Key man - Luke Kelly has some big boots to fill replacing Nathan Peats and with the Eels struggling for other options at dummy half, Kelly gets the call. He's usually a half so he'll have to do a fair amount of tackling, he's not huge either.

Keep an eye on - John Asiata made his debut off the bench for the Cowboys last week and looked pretty darn solid. Lee Mossop to debut for the Eels as well.

Verdict - Cowboys <12. They don't usually win in Sydney but I'm picking their forwards to have hold tough and Jonathan Thurston to be the difference.

Titans vs Panthers

Matchup - Tyrone Peachey vs Dave Taylor. Peachey could provide Taylor with some problems with his nimble feet while Taylor has a large size advantage.

Key man - Albert Kelly has to be on point, dictating the game with his kicking game and providing an attacking spark. He'll have to get the Titans in good field position because you know that Jamie Soward and Peter Wallace will have the Panthers going good.

Keep an eye on - Not sure if James Roberts will get a run for the Titans but if he does, watch out. Bryce Cartwright has transitioned seamlessly in to for first grade for the Panthers as well.

Verdict -  Panthers >12. They should have a bit too much class if they can hold their own through the middle.

Dragons vs Sharks

Matchup - Adam Quinlan vs Nathan Gardner. Two little fullbacks with a lot to play for, they could both have an influence on the game and will need to for their team to win.

Key man - Trent Merrin. The toughness through the middle will fall upon his shoulders as he's an Origin player and needs to inspire this group of battlers.

Keep an eye on - Jacob Gagan and Fa'amanu Brown to debut for the Sharks. Brown in the halves should give them a bit of excitement.

Verdict - Dragons >12. This Sharks side is pretty weak and the Dragons need a good performance in front of their home fans.

Rabbitohs vs Warriors

Matchup - Sam Burgess vs Simon Mannering. Two big locks, both are the defensive top dawgs and provide go forward as well as skill.

Key man - Issac Luke was back live in full effect last week and could give the Warriors some headaches with his dummy half running. Quick play the balls, easy go forward and getting the Warriors fatigued will be the order.

Keep an eye on - Bench impact. There'll be some tired lads out there with the size and power of both teams, so guys like Feleti Mateo, Siliva Havili, Apisai Koroisau and Thomas Burgess could be dangerous.

Verdict - Warriors <12. If they can handle the Rabbitohs size and speed through the middle, they have enough weapons to break down the Bunnies defence.

 Knights vs West Tigers

Matchup - Luke Brooks vs Tyrone Roberts. Two young halves with plenty of talent and who love to run the abll.

Key man - Robbie Farah could be huge out of dummy half. There'll be some slow Knights forwards lurking, ready to fall victim to a penalty or easy metres.

Keep an eye on - The Tigers are returning to their top side with James Tedesco coming back, peep how Tedesco makes the Tigers more potent on attack.

Verdict - Tigers >12. It'll will be a great test against a tough Knights team but they have too much speed and power for the Knights.

Storm vs Roosters

Matchup - Tohu Harris vs James Maloney. They're both halves, but obviously very different! Harris could run at Maloney all day but Maloney has the play making advantage.

Key man - Jesse Bromwich will have to not only give the Storm plenty of go forward, but also give them some x factor with offloads etc.

Keep an eye on - Cameron Munster has a game under his belt, we should see what he's got to offer this week as the Storm need that extra pair of hands he can offer.

Verdict - Roosters <12. The Storm are weakened, but Harris gives them another big man which will help against the Roosters. Too much class though with the Roosters.

Raiders vs Broncos

Matchup - Anthony Milford vs Ben Barba. This could be an audition for the Broncos fullback spot for next season. Whoever has they greater impact will pri

Key man - Jarrod Croker, with the Raiders unable to muster a whole lot on attack Croker must be a threat on the edge every time he gets the ball.

Keep an eye on - Mitch Cornish ... again. Make sure you get a glimpse of a young star on the rise.

Verdict - Broncos >12. They Broncs look to get better with consistent team selections, they'll be too much for a struggling Raiders team
