NRL Round 25 Preview

Bulldogs vs Rabbitohs

Matchup - Corey Thompson vs Alex Johnston. Two young wingers with the NRL wrapped around their pinky, but they've gone about this in two different ways. Thompson simply does his job, where Johnston does the spectacular.

Key Man - Moses Mbye will have to offer plenty of assistance to Trent Hodkinson and expect both of them to be put under the pump from the Bunnies. Mbye will have to be an equally as clinical option as Hodko.

Keep An Eye On - Adam Reynolds, how much will the Bunnies get out of him? Hammy's aren't the most trustworthy things.

Verdict - Rabbitohs <12. If the Dogs were at their peak with Sam Kasiano, Josh Reynolds etc things might be a little different.

Broncos vs Dragons

Matchup - Justin Hodges vs Gerard Beale. Two fullbacks who have recently shifted to the back from the centres. It'll be great to see who has the biggest impact.

Key Man - Ben Barba, we saw last week how beneficial it is to have him popping up every where to make the most of any chance.

Keep An Eye On - Corey Oates has been a youngster who hasn't really put a foot wrong in first grade since his debut. Should he play this week, watch how his massive frame creates opportunities.

Verdict - Dragons <12. Sneaky little upset here.

Knights vs Eels

Matchup - Adam Clydsdale/Travis Waddell vs Issac De Gois. The Knights' hookers will probably get through the same amount of work as De Gois does by himself and with De Gois returning to Newcastle expect him to be fired up.

Key Man - Joseph Paulo plays a more Feleti Mateo style of lock than a tackling machine and with the ball going through Paulo's hands a fair amount of the time, he could be the key to getting the big Knights forward moving around.

Keep An Eye On - Which forward pack gets the upper hand. Their both big and aggressive, but one is slightly slow and laboured, the other is all action.

Verdict - Eels >12. If they can match the Knights in the grind, they'll pull away.

Raiders vs West Tigers

Matchup - Mitch Cornish vs Mitch Moses. Two youngsters who have been given the opportunity to lead their team with the 7 on their back.

Key Man - Robbie Farah will have to run the show though for the Tigers, they more he runs the ball the better to get the Tigers rolling forward.

Keep An Eye On - Mathew Lodge, joining Aaron Woods in the front row. Lodge is of a similar mould.

Verdict - Tigers <12. If they can keep Anthony Milford under control, she'll be overs.

Roosters vs Storm

Matchup - Jake Friend vs Cameron Smith. The two best Queensland hookers who will be key figures in their teams performance.

Key Man - Jesse Bromwich is in for a big test against fellow Kiwi front rowers Jared Waerea-Hargreaves and Sam Moa. His quick feet, size and skill could help unsettle the Roosters water tight defence.

Keep An Eye On - Can the Storm at the very least, keep the Roosters big boys contained?

Verdict - Roosters <12. I really like the Storm but logic is saying go with the Roosters who have plenty of muscle and options.

Warriors vs Titans

Matchup - Whoever tries to line up against James Roberts vs James Roberts. Whether it's one of the centres, or a back rower who ends up in front of Roberts, they better be on point.

Key Man - Sam Tomkins has got to provide some inspiration for the Warriors. He can't be solely relied on to get points but he's gotta get them excited and up for some razzle dazzle.

Keep An Eye On - Another confusing line up from the Warriors, late in the season.

Verdict - Warriors <12 ... on the grounds that they just have to win.

Sea Eagles vs Panthers

Matchup - Brett Stewart vs Matt Moylan. Master vs the apprentice.

Key Man - Manly's energy and attitude is epitomised by Anthony Watmough and if he's an eager beaver through the middle, the Panthers will struggle to create many opportunities.

Keep An Eye On - Four of the most promising wingers (let alone players) Jorge Taufua, Peta Hiku, Josh Mansour and Dallin Watene-Zelezniak.

Verdict - Sea Eagles <12. Should have too much quality to the Panthers.

Cowboys vs Sharks

Matchup - The teams - one team on top of the footy world, the other some where near the bottom. One at the peak of their powers, the other trying to figure out all its bits and pieces.

Key Man - Jonathan Thurston could, by himself, play the Sharks out of this contest.

Keep An Eye On - The Sharks youngins, there's a few but especially Tupou Sopoaga who has all the skills on the edge.

Verdict - Cowboys >35
