NRL Round 22 Preview
Rabbitohs vs Sea Eagles
Matchup - Anthony Watmough vs Sam Burgess. Two of the best forwards going toe to toe, expect them to play key roles in all the dirty/stuff no one else wants to do type of things
Key Man - Isaac Luke. The Rabbitohs have the bigger, badder pack of forwards but that will only matter if Luke is wreaking havoc through the guys.
Keep An Eye On - Manly targeting Luke Keary and Adam Reynolds. They're both on the smaller side so expect Manly to put them under all sorts of pressure.
Verdict - Rabbitohs <12. They'll end the streak with some blockbusting play.
Broncos vs Bulldogs
Matchup - Corey Parker vs James Graham. Again, two of the best forwards except these two offer plenty of off loads and sneaky passing before the line.
Key Man - Ben Barba has to impact the game. He HAS to, otherwise not only will the Broncos struggle to make a mark in the finals but there's also guys by the names of Milford and Boyd on the radar.
Keep An Eye On - Lloyd Perrett has big wraps on him from the Doggies
Verdict - Bulldogs >12. I'm not sure if the Broncos have it in them to stop the Dogs piling on the points.
Knights vs Storm
Matchup - Will Chambers vs Joey Leilua. Two gun centres going at it, nothing better.
Key Man - Cameron Smith. It the more important games, Smtih has the ability to control the game ... nearly all these last few games are important.
Keep An Eye On - Storm's hot form. Can they keep it up and can they continue to improve week by week.
Verdict - Storm >12. Should be too good.
Cowboys vs West Tigers
Matchup - Jonathan Thurston vs Luke Brooks. They're at opposite ends of their career but are equally important to their teams.
Key Man - Luke Brooks. The Tigers looked a little bit lost without him last week and if he's good to go this week they'll rely heavily on him.
Keep An Eye On - Cowboys, much like the Storm have been hotter than a packed sauna recently.
Verdict - Cowboys <12. I reckon they've got a bit to much muscle up front plus classy backs.
Eels vs Raiders
Matchup - Another nice battle of the centres with Ricky Stuart giving us the future of the Raiders with Jarrod Croker and Jack Wighton teaming up against Will Hopoate and Ryan Morgan.
Key Man - Corey Norman needs to step up another gear to ensure that the Eels have a few more options. It's all good to have the Hayne plane in flight, but if there's a few weapons it's better for everyone.
Keep An Eye On - Jordan Rapana, Matt McIlwrick, Mitch Cornish ... Ricky Stuart's giving the young blood a go.
Verdict - Eels <12. If you're keen for a sneaky upset bet, I'd put a buck or two on the Raiders though.
Warriors vs Sharks
Matchup - Seb Ikahihifo vs Paul Gallen. Ikahihifo has flown under the radar at lock and he's up against the best in the business this week.
Key Man - Jacob Lillyman. The Sharks boast a pretty impressive pack and Lillyman needs to lead the Warriors in what shapes as a gritty battle through the middle.
Keep An Eye On - This game is all about the forwards, keep an eye on who's getting the upper hand as well as which pack is bringing the pain.
Verdict - Warriors <12. She'll be tough.
Dragons vs Panthers
Matchup - Mitch Rein vs James Segeyaro. Two dynamic dummy halves who like to go forward on the back of some strong forward play.
Key Man - Josh Dugan has the ability to give the Dragons a variety of weapons but he'll need to get off his edge and go hunting for the ball.
Keep An Eye On - Are the Panthers capable of being a threat in the finals despite their injury toll? This is a great test against an eager Dragons side.
Verdict - Dragons <12. Toss up really.
Roosters vs Titans
Matchup - Dave Taylor/James Roberts vs Michael Jennings/Shaun Kenny-Dowall. It's all there.
Key Man - Mitchell Pearce. He's been a bit quiet recently but expect him to warm up as the finals approach.
Keep An Eye On - Heath L'Estrange becomes an important player for the Chooks with Jake Friend out for a few weeks with a hammy issue.
Verdict - Roosters >12. Duuuh.
