The Mystery Doc's NRL Team of 2014

Let me start by saying that this is purely a team of my favourite players this season. This isn't a team of who's the best blah blah blah, just my favs.

Matt Moylan - An absolute gun, Moylan is the best young fullback in the comp and it's the way he handles his bizzo that gets him in this great team. A dynamic ball runner while having the ability to throw a wide range of passes ... oh and he's got all the kicks. Gun gun gun.

Alex Johnston - Super fast. How this kid is so much faster than everyone else amazes me every time. I mean he's got 18 tries in 16 games!?

Konrad Hurrell - Pure power, he's gonna break the first tackle nearly every time and he showed throughout the season that he's got some skill as well.

Justin Hodges - Despite a shift to fullback, Hodges gets a starting centre spot thanks to him being awesome. If anything his move to fullback sealed the deal as it enabled him to show off his passing game on top of his running ability.

Manu Vatuvei - Nuff said ... well I mean he had the best year of his career!?

Jamie Soward - Sowie has been in fine form this season and has been at the forefront of the Panthers simple, yet hugely effective game plan. He's done his job super well - directing the troops, kicking to corners and running plays.

Jonathan Thurston - The pinnacle, much of his awesomeness is subtle so it goes unnoticed. He can kick off both feet - short, long, little stabs here and there, he can pass better than anyone and he's a gun runner.

Ashton Sims - If you need a prop, Sims is your man. He'll do the work and ruffle feathers as well.

Isaac Luke - Strong defensively, a great runner and someone who you can rely on. His running game is a bit better than James Segeyaro which gave him the edge here.

Jesse Bromwich - Footwork, skill, toughness and effort. It's all there and he's the type of prop who you can build a team around thanks to his skill and offloading ability.

Jason Taumalolo - He looks like he's found his feet in first grade and he's enjoying it. Well I mean who wouldn't enjoy the fact that they're almost unstoppable!?

Curtis Sironen - Any big bloke with the skill of a half is good to go in my books. Whenever Sironen gets the ball, you have options. Options are good.

Sam Bugess - Why wouldn't you? Huge work rate mixed in with off loads and heavy contact, Burgess is the modern prototype of a footballer.
