2017 #KiwiNRL Encyclopedia: Gold Coast Titans

Watch out for the Tongans on the GC.

Everything on the Gold Coast in terms of #KiwiNRL and #PacificNRL antics is headlined by Konrad Hurrell, who will embark on his first full season with the Titans. Hurrell joined the Titans mid-way through last season and the opportunity to have an off-season on the Gold Coast - despite it being interrupted by injury - should be highly beneficial to his already growing reputation as a Titans beast.

Hurrell is joined by his tokos Agnatius Paasi and Leivaha Pulu. I did a big ol' thingy of Paasi earlier in the week and the prospect on more game time, possibly in the No.13 jersey left vacant by Greg Bird will have Paasi fizzing. Otherwise, Paasi could come off the bench with Pulu who enjoyed a breakout season in 2016 thanks to his powerful running but also some low key skills, especially with offloading.

In signing Kiwis edge forward Kevin Proctor got added a third cog to their edge rotation and Proctor should slot in as a starter, pushing Cook Islands' Zeb Taia to the bench. Proctor isn't the sort of forward who is going to make his team 10x better and similar to how his work off Cooper Cronk's hip was crucial to Melbourne Storm's attack, how Proctor combines with Ash Taylor or Kane Elgey will be a funky narrative to follow.

Samoan international Eddy Pettybourne is a veteran forward tasked with doing whatever is required of him; usually coming off the bench for 15-30 minutes through the middle. Don't expect much from Pettybourne this season, although he's a valuable squad member and will be first up if there's an injury or suspension.

There are two lads to keep a close eye on if they are able to get a few minutes, or in the case of Nathaniel Peteru - a few more minutes. Peteru is a massive unit and the former Junior Warriors could sneak on to the bench for a few games, ideally a lot of games as his presence would give the Titans some freaky size/mobility in their forward pack; Peteru, Paasi, Pulu, Ryan James, David Shillington, Jarrod Wallace.

Konrad Hurrell was a beast last season, expect him to keep the Titans rolling forward (along with that forward pack.

Agnatius Paasi could get more minutes/responsibility.

Leivaha Pulu will want to consistently find himself on that Titans bench, as will Nathaniel Peteru.

Eddy Pettybourne will play the role of the chirpy veteran, get in where you fit in.
Kevin Proctor is a nice addition to the Titans, he won't be a stand out player but he will slot in beautifully.

Hurrell, Paasi and Pulu will be gunning for spots in Tonga's World Cup squad. Pettybourne is a long shot for Samoa and Proctor will be there for the Kiwis.
