Hard & Fast: Kosta's Koming Home And #SavedTheNix

#SaveTheNix is now #SavedTheNix after the Wellington Phoenix were granted a 4-year A-League licence extension, with options for two further extensions resulting in a possible 10-year licence extension.

Oh and guess what? Kosta Barbarouses is coming home as well.

This was rumoured to be the case a few weeks ago via a Melbourne Victory fan site and now this has been confirmed, with Barbarouses signing a deal that will make him the third highest paid player in the A-League (via SBS).

You have to think that the two are related in some capacity as Barbarouses wouldn't have been interested in joining an A-League team that still has question marks over its future.

Friday the 19th of February, what a day.

Barbarouses is still only 25-years-old, even though it feels like he has been on the scene for a decade and there's no reason why we can't think that Barbarouses' best years are ahead of him.

This is the sort of deal that will likely help the Phoenix maintain a presence in the top-half of the A-League ladder as Barbarouses' strength is running at defenders. He's quick and nimble, which will give the Nix a funky edge with Barbarouses playing alongside Roy Krishna.

My personal belief was that the Football Federation of Australia were always likely to grant the Nix a licence extension, they just wanted to ensure that they got the most out of the Nix.

The FFA ruffled a few feathers, shook up the kiwi footballing landscape and hopefully this will only lead to a positive future.
