Lydia Ko Mixtape 2019: A Nice Wee Streak

KOKO.png

Make it three top-20 finishes in a row for Lydia Ko after Ko finished tied-8th at the Founders Cup in Phoenix, Arizona. Shooting -5 in each of the first three rounds in Phoenix, Ko then had a -3 round which saw her finish on -18 and that had Ko only 3 shots off being tied-2nd, while the winner Jin Young Ko finished on -22.

This was Ko's fourth top-20 result in five tournaments on the LPGA Tour this year, her second top-10 finish as well. Since missing the cut for Women's Australian Open, Ko has steadily improved with results of 19T, 11T and now 8T. This could point to a greater shift as Ko looks to level-up from regular top-20 results to consistent top-10 results, however as we always preach in the Lydia Ko Mixtape; rid yourselves of those expectations around Ko.

Another notable insight is that this result saw Ko have her lowest scoring average of 2019 with 67. This is the second time Ko's tournament scoring average has dipped below 70 and we have to go back to the first tournament of the year when Ko finished 8th and averaged 69 as the only other time this year.

Lydia Ko (-5) sits three back at the 2019 Bank of Hope Founders Cup, after an opening round of 67 (-5).

Lydia Ko (-15) posted a third round of 67 (-5) and sits four back at the 2019 Bank of Hope Founders Cup.
