So Long, NBA League Pass Free Trial, Goodbye
By The Wildcard
Fare thee well, NBA League Pass
Thou and I were so briefly the best of friends
Whilst thou was free and chargeless
But alas the time does fly
And thus now you and I
Must make our mournful parting
Do you remember, NBA League Pass
How we would traverse through time and space?
Our friendship knew no bounds
One minute at Madison Square Garden, NY
The next at the Staples Centre, CA
A world of basketball was at our whim and mercy
Our time was not long, NBA League Pass
Yet I regret not a second
Of our seven days together
Oh, League Pass, you did not forsake me
We knew from the start
That this was only temporary
That it could not last
Beyond the promotional period
You were only, after all
A Free Trial
You gave me live matches and highlights
At the click of a finger
Kobe and Dwight, Dirk and Melo, LeBron and Pau
And for this I am forever grateful
But despite what we had
I just cannot bring myself
To pay good goddamn money
To watch something
That I can get for free
In a slightly worse version
I mean, if you think I’m paying
Three hundred bucks or whatever
Just so that I can have better quality video
Than friggin’ SportsBoxTV.co.ph or
FreeSportsOnline.co.gr
Which all that means is that my laptop
Will probably lag more
And crash more
Or so that I can watch the Mavs and the Cavs
On a split screen so small
That you can’t make out either scoreboard
Let alone how much bandwidth
The whole thing takes up
When it’s not like we don’t get
A few games on ESPN every week too
Then you can go prey on some other sucker
No sir, you ain’t getting my money
Greedy sons of…
