Alright then, forget about first. Forget about second too, as it happens. The Breakers had their chance this week to challenge Melbourne United for first place over a double header and they lost both.
NBA teams were once dishing out big contracts, now they've tightened the purse strings and won't be as generous.
Something strange is going on with Tai Wynyard at Kentucky but, whatever it is, people have kept their mouths shut about the specifics. The whole thing is clouded in suspense and intrigue, it’s both concerning and compelling.
Adjusting to life without Andre Roberson on defence has been tricky and the Thunder swallowed some Ls this week... right up until they thumped on the defending champions.
Tom Brady against Nick Foles, one half of that equation was exactly what many people would’ve picked before the season but the other half… the other half was most definitely not.
Okay now, what have we got here? The supposedly slumping Breakers whipped out two straight wins over the Illawarra Hawks – one at home and one away – and have booked their place in the semi-finals.
Some games get overshadowed by individual incidents. Last-second game-winners tend to clog up the memory, handily erasing the sloppiness that usual precedes the need for a last-second game-winner. Then, on the other side of things, there are injuries.
The Breakers are in a slump, they say. Lost eight of their last 12 since they went on that nine-game winning streak. Really does sound a lot like a slump, to be fair. Although... what would you say to the assertion that the slump ended a few weeks ago
Steven Adams finished with 360,822 ASG fan votes in total, eleventh in the Western Conference frontcourt standings. He cracked the top ten in the West FC with 27 player votes too, although none of those pesky media jokers gave him anything.
What will it take to end this Patriots dynasty? New records fall every season as their success stretches on beyond the depth of human vision. There are NFL diehards that weren’t even born when Tom Brady first threw a completed pass in a Super Bowl.
26 of 33 passing for 352 yards with 3 TDs and zero picks. 141.4 passer rating. Nick Foles was absolutely brilliant against the Vikes. The Eagles came from an early 7-0 deficit to win this thing 38-7 and they were done scoring barely a couple minutes into the fourth quarter.
NBA trade rumours have dried up, other than Cleveland Cavaliers looking for some help.
Three wins and three double-doubles for Steven Adams. Check out the put-back dunks and the alley-oops, but also check out it out as he espouses his love of Jiu-Jitsu and Peyton Manning and his ambivalence towards Game of Thrones and Enes Kanter's All Star voting habits.
They’re a famously underachieving franchise with a jokingly incapable quarterback… and they’re playing the New England Patriots for a place in the Super Bowl in a few days. The Jacksonville Jaguars, aye?
Been feeling good about the Thunder lately? Enjoyed the resurgence, enjoyed everyone seeming to accept and adapt to their roles on this team? Fancied the way they’d won eight of their last ten before this week, surging into the middle of the Western Conference playoff spots?
You can make your own Christmas themed puns if you want, everybody else is. Poor mate Rakeem has probably heard them all already, you don’t grow up with the last name Christmas without being constantly reminded about it.
A double header in Los Angeles brought some scrappiness, particularly from those dirty Clippers, after OKC had copped a refereeing blunder against the Bucks and some self-inflicted blunders against the Mavs.
So here we are. The last bend in the road has been turned and we’re onto the final straight. The final game of the season for 20 of these 32 teams.
The Thunder are on a six-game winning streak and all of a sudden things look rather rosy. The Big Three are making buckets and their kiwi centre is getting it done all over the court. So take that, Jonas Valanciunas.
Merry Christmas, season’s greetings, feliz navidad and all that. Time for some holiday NFL! First we’ve got a couple games on Xmas Eve followed by a bunch on Christmas Day itself and then a pair on Boxing Day to close out the week. She’s all go, amigo.
