Footy Rhubarb
Team of the Week:
Courtois (Chelsea)
Zabaleta (Man City) Ivanovic (Chelsea) Dier (Spurs)
Buckley (Sun'land) Cattermole (Sun'land) Ramsey (Arsenal) Downing (West Ham)
Lamela (Spurs)
Jovetic (Man City) Adebayor (Spurs)
Hero of the Week:
The hero this week is Jovetic. Aaron Ramsey was a candidate after he scored another crucial goal to earn Arsenal a point at Everton but it has to go to the Montenegro international. Jovetic scored two as Man City beat Liverpool 3-1. It's the first time two of the big teams have met this season and City had the bite whereas Liverpool look like they need more time to gel. On a personal level Jovetic will be ecstatic after having a forgettable first season in England due to injury. It will do his confidence the world of good and it again emphasizes the amount of firepower City have at their disposal. City fired their way to the title last season with their top striker Aguero out for almost half of it but could rely on goals from Dzeko and Negredo now you can add a fit and sharp Jovetic to that list. Basically this game was the Champions flexing their muscles, wearing tight pants and showing their bulge. Their is a long way to go this season but looking at their squad especially upfront with the likes of Jovetic - City look like Champions.
Nipple of the Week:
Now you regular Rhubarbians know that Pardew is usually mentioned somewhere when it comes to the nipple of the week but it's not him this week! It may be a first, but don't fear he'll probably do something this week to twist my melon. This week isn't so much a specific person but more defensive units, defensive units belonging to QPR and Liverpool. Spurs ripped QPR to bits at times, they were opening their defense up like Kim Dotcom opens fast-food bags. They were slow, docile, and erratic. Rio's experience obviously counted for nothing and it seems Ol 'arry has got quite a job on his hands to stop goals going in.
Not much more can be said about Liverpool's defending against City. Ex-Scummer Lovren gifted Jovetic one of his goals with an absolute piss-poor attempt at a clearance which wasn't helped by Moreno's flat-footed response. Glen Johnson also had a nightmare at right-back before going off injured - something that could come back to bite him after the signing of Manquilo from Atletico Madrid. Liverpool basically didn't win the league last season because of the amount of goals they conceded at that should have been addressed straight away, maybe things will change once the squad gels but if they want to be in the top four again they need to be a lot more solid. the back lines of QPR and Liverpool, your a couple of nipples this week.
