The A-League Final With Ze Phibber
It's all over red rover. The 2014- 2015 A league season is over and the Melbourne Victory have claimed the ultimate prize after backing up their win of the premiership plate with a very convincing 3-0 win. Goals to Besart Berisha, Kosta Barbarouses and Leigh Broxham. Firstly shit man, I wish we could get crowds like that to all games. Even watching on TV it makes you almost get goosebumps. Especially when they are as vocal as they were, it was fricken awesome.
Any way all credit to Melbourne here they really deserved the win and played outstanding. The match started off very intense and within minutes we had blood spilling out of players left right and centre. Although the match was 1-0 till up until the 83rd minute it was still all the Melbourne Victory show. Sydney FC never were allowed to get into the game and had limited ball deep in Melbourne's half and when they did create the limited chances they had they were unable to capitalise. The best of which was Golden boot winner Marc Janko who had a free header 6 yards out but failed to generate enough power and direction to trouble Lawrence Thomas. The next best opportunity Sydney squandered was when in my eyes almost the most in-form player (coming into the final) Alex Brosque failed to find the back of the net after an absolute class touch. If Sydney were to win this match the needed Brosque to have a ripper and sadly he was no way near his best.
Now I guess we should talk about Melbourne's goals. Why oh why did Berisha have to score a screamer! I'm not a fan of the guy but you can't argue that touch and finish was absolute world class. There was a little bit of a scramble in the box before Berisha flicked the ball out onto his left foot and absolutely hammered the ball home. Great goal and what a stage to bring out a goal like that on. I'll give you this one Besart, you are clutch, and sadly the final Phibber's Goal Of The Season has been awarded to you mate.
The second goal came late in the game and if I had to have picked a goal scorer this legend would have been at the top of my list. Kosta Barbarouses is a gun and after his devastating performance he was well deserving of this goal. A quick turnover saw Barbarouses dribble through the middle before feeding it out wide to receive it again about 10 yards out, his first shot was blocked but being the speedster he is, he was able to snatch up the loose ball and tuck it away nicely with the outside of his boot.
The final goal was really the icing on the cake this goal absolutely, unequivocally sealed the win for the The Melbourne Victory. Now there are three people in this Melbourne team that I thoroughly dislike, we all know that Berisha is one, the other is coach Kevin Muscat and the third is this man Leigh Broxham. Like the greedy weasel he is, Broxham ran up from right back to poach the ball and grab a goal so he could share the glory with the other goal scorers. Winning the premiership plate and the grand final wasn't going to be enough for this man. No, he had to poach a goal too. Nah, I'm just kidding that's what you want to see from your right back, overlapping the winger and pushing forward making defending an absolute nightmare. Good goal.
Now it wouldn't be a grandfinal/a week with the Phibber if we didn't talk about an absolute bellend, an absolute tosser, an absolute knob. This week the illustrious award goes to Carl Valeri from the Melbourne Victory who decided that it would be a good idea to kick the ball away in the 88th minute whilst already sitting on a yellow card! Brain explosion? I think so. Any way your idiotic actions got you removed from the field and with just two minutes of normal time left gave Sydney a slight sniff. Albeit that sniff was stomped out two minutes later but you never know what your knob-head actions could have caused.
Well that's it done and dusted, Melbourne Victory are the champs, the Hogs won both the premiership plate and the the grand final, but shit it was deserved. They are a class team. If they can keep the side together there is no reason they couldn't go back to back. Hopefully the Phoenix will have something to say about that.
Up The Nix!
Phibber out.
