Hard & Fast: Phoenix Signing Alex Jones Waits For Paperwork
ANOTHER ADMINISTRATION BOTCH UP.
Omg.
What's going on!?
Things were already pretty depressing for the Wellington Phoenix, not being very good at football and all, now another mishap by those in offices means that new striker Alex Jones will have to wait to get his first run for the Phoenix.
Welly Nix OG expert Jason Pine breaks down the failings...
Hey, at least it's not the fault of the Phoenix right?
Well there's two sides to that, first up we have the Nix and how important it is that the Nix get Jones on the field asap. That's an interesting thing to say given that we haven't seen Jones in action but at this point I'm just eager to see anyone new, fresh and slightly explosive get a run for the Nix (maybe that's Hamish Watson?).
In terms of the Nix off the field, they appear to have done everything right here besides handing responsibility over to NZ Football on a long weekend.
It's not the fault of the Phoenix, but maybe I'd rather it be their fault. Instead of another NZF blunder. Seriously, another one.
If you're the Wellington Phoenix, your laughter at the expense of NZF will quickly be overshadowed by anger.
If you're NZF, well you've got some explaining to do and given how shitty everything NZF-related has been in the past 12 months, people need to be held accountable.
Apparently the Nix have appealed to FIFA: "we're sorry, it wasn't our fault, you know what NZF are like, just a bit dumb, help us out will ya?"
The Nix face Western Sydney this Sunday evening, who just happen to sit at the top of the table.
New signing Hamish Watson (as cover for Roy Krishna, from Hawkes Bay United) has been named in the squad to head to Sydney.
Albert Riera also returns with Alex Rodriguez out with a knee injury.
We're more likely to see Watson get a run this week than Jones, here's hoping Watson goes alright.
