This was the week that the Oceania Pro League players returned. Four weeks after Auckland FC lifted that championship (overshadowed by another one they lifted that same weekend), we have begun to see the various kiwi players involved in that competition dispersed back around the league
It was another cup weekend this time around with the Chatham Cup and Kate Sheppard Cup both reaching their fourth rounds. That’s last 32 teams for the Chats, last 16 teams for the KSC
The funky thing about this round is that the top four, separated by just two points, all played each other... and nothing’s any clearer now than it was a week ago. That included a wonderful game between Western Suburbs and Napier City Rovers which…
Here’s a rare weekend of footy that began on a Thursday. There were Chatham and Kate Sheppard Cup games across the country and since it was a long weekend the Northern League folks managed to squeeze in a full league round as well.
Well what do ya know, we’ve had another twist in the tale of the Men’s Central League after Reilly Marlow-Jones scored for Western Suburbs in a 1-0 win over Miramar Rangers.
It was game of the round territory when Miramar Rangers met Napier City Rovers, two teams needing strong seasons to ensure their place in the revampted National League next year and two teams absolutely delivering on that promise
The game of the round was Eastern Suburbs vs Fencibles United. Two teams in strong form, both with designs on the top four... possibly a lot higher. Kenya Brooke (28’) and Mihiro Kisu (35’) traded first half goals for Suburbs and Fencies respectively before the game swung in a five minute spell…
The new-look Wellington Phoenix U18s have put a notch in the win column at the fourth attempt. They won 4-1 away against a struggling Palmerston North Marist side that has now lost five in a row…
Everything was all set for some Friday night footy at Fred Taylor Park, home of the Auckland FC Reserves. The youngsters were hosting Bay Olympic. Both teams looking for points after a couple of tough recent results…
With less than twenty minutes to go, Fencibles United were leading 1-0 against the Auckland FC Reserves. Jordan Boon had scored the goal (26’), nodding in after a barrage of corner kicks. As the game entered second-half added time, the AFC Reserves had spun things around to be leading 2-1…
If Cashmere Technical don’t win the Southern League then something pretty crazy will have happened between now and then. Four games in and they already look like they’re cruising, with their latest demolition being a 9-0 victory away against Wānaka
In a week where Auckland City and Wellington Olympic both lost and the Men’s Northern and Central Leagues are looking like anyone’s for the claiming right now... one thing you can bank on is Cashmere Technical
Everybody say kia ora to the Men’s & Women’s Central Leagues, which got underway this week. Might as well lead off with them and might as well start with the (perennial) defending champions, Wellington Olympic, who were away against rivals Miramar Rangers at David Farrington Park
Friday night at Fred Taylor Park marked the start of the 2026 football season in New Zealand, as defending National League champs Auckland United were hosted by defending NRFL Premiership champs West Coast Rangers
After 56 games of Men’s National League football, one of the most unpredictable campaigns we’ve ever seen ended in the most predictable manner: with Auckland City lifting the trophy
Both the Women’s and Men’s National Leagues were wide open in their latter weeks only for the defending champs to swoop through and win it again. Funny how that goes.
Just like in the Women’s National League, the two most recent champions made it to the Men’s National League grand final. There had been wobbles along the way for both Wellington Olympic and Auckland City but…
As the final round of the Men’s National League began, there were four clubs still in with a mathematical chance of qualifying for the grand final. These two clubs were at the forefront of those convos…
It’s an incredible situation that we’ve got ourselves into where four separate teams held their grand final fates in their own hands ahead of the penultimate weekend. Any combination of Western Springs, Auckland City, Wellington Olympic, or Miramar Rangers could end up in the top two
