Black Caps Black Book ... /Diary - November 30
What a day.
With the death of a cheeky Australian still filling the air with sorrow, the Black Caps stepped up their tribute to our cousins across the ditch. Brendon McCullum's double hundy will go down in history as one of the best knocks by a New Zealand skip, to be honest I'm in awe of how our captain has stood up in such times.
It was fitting that our two other best batsmen got in on the act. Kane Williamson hit 192 as only the Prince can - in glorious fashion while King Rossco chipped in with a 50. Take this as an opportunity to see what this Black Caps side is capable of, when our 3 best batsmen fire, the cricketing world is our oyster.
50's from Corey Anderson and Tim Southee were nice, well earned but the hard work had been done earlier as the Pakistani bowlers got their enthusiasm demolished. You have to feel for someone like Mohammad Talha, he returns to the test side only come across a few batsmen with runs on their minds. He bowled 22 overs for 136 runs at 6.18 rpo, with no wickets.
The Black Caps don't want to bowl short and it's clear that they shouldn't. Talha's rough going in this test is thanks to his tendency to drop short of a length, the Kiwi bowlers will keep the ball up and hope for the best.
It's only day 4 today. It feels like this test has been going on for a week. I don't know if B-Mack (Macksville, big up big up Hughes!) will really care about winning this test, his history suggests a declaration early on in the day. That'll give the Black Caps a day to bowl Pakistan out and then a chance to chase a total, remember a win would give the Baps a 1-1 series result which would be awesome.
But these are different times, B-Mack's aggression as skip doesn't matter. He may opt to go for the win, he may let the test fizzle. Either way, the Black Caps have already done us proud and hopefully the rest of the cricketing world proud as well.
