Domestic Daily - That's An Ace Mate
Game Sitch
- The Auckland Aces beat Canterbury by 7 wickets thanks to a very solid all round performance. The Aces bowled the Cantabs out for 199, with Mitch McClenaghan the pick of the bunch taking 4/39 off 9.3 overs while the rest of the Aces attack chipped in as well. Martin Guptill, Rob Nicol and Craig Cachopa all hit 50's to give the Aces a rather easy win.
- The Northern Districts Knights only just managed stop the Central Districts Stags reaching a healthy 297 set by the Knights. 67 from Jono Hickey and 86 from Mitchell Santner helped the Knights put the Stags under scoreboard pressure but a century from George Worker ensured that the Stags had a sniff. Will Young helped the Stags along with 65 off 58 balls but late wickets from Jono Boult (3/64 off 10) and Mitchell Santner (2/39 off 10) won it for the Knights.
- The Otago Volts set the Wellington Firebirds a very competitive 286 thanks to a timely century from Nathan McCullum who hit 119 off 109. Iain Robertson chipped in with 62 while Grant Elliot picked up 4 wickets to finish with 4/46 off his 10. The Firebirds toiled hard to end up with 270 thanks to James Franklin who hit 98 with Sam Well and McCullum picking up 3 wickets each.
That Man Deserves A Mean Feed
- Big Mitch get him some food asap! Just make sure it's paleo please.
- George Worker has become a bit of a domestic battler, first with Canterbury and now with the Stags but the attacking leftie got the Stags of to a great start. I reckon a nice steak with some mushroom sauce would be a scrumptious reward for the Worker.
- With a cracking century, Nathan McCullum will have to wait until tomorrow to have a bowl of Coco Pops for brekky ... nah, you deserve the old Coco Pops for dinner mate!
- Jimmy Franklin, mate hard luck for coming so close but sorry mate, I've only got a few lollies left.
Observations From The Observatory
- Guppy backed up his first up hundy with 55 off 41 balls, not bad going for the most polarizing cricketer since Jesse Ryder. I like Guppy, so it's good to see him standing up.
- Big Mitch faces stiff competition for a World Cup starting spot with the key for him being wickets. If he's taking wickets, he's going to be near the front of the pack.
- Big few days for the McCullums, but Nathan needs to keep performing at a supreme level to keep Daniel Vettori out of the Black Caps best ODI 11. A century and 3 wickets? That's a pretty good effort.
- It's awesome to see so many younger lads performing. This round we saw Will Young, Craig Cachopa and Mitch Santner all chip in and I'm sure we'll see a few more guys continue to impress.
