Domestic Daily - Runs And Wickets

Game Sitch

  • Northern District Knights played the Wellington Firebirds on Thursday. Knights set the Firebirds 263 with Daniel Flynn and Daryl Mitchell hitting 60's, they then bowled Wellington out for 240 with Mitchell putting in a great all round performance. He finished with figures of 3/34 off 7 overs with Grant Elliot's 78 and Alecz Day's 57 getting the Firebirds close, but no cigar. Scott Kuggeleijn was the pick of the bowlers for the Knights with 3/32 off 8.5 overs.
  • The Auckland Aces continued their fine form with the bat setting Otago 344 to win, which was tu meke. Martin Guptill and Craig Cachopa both hit hundy's while Jacob Duffy picked up 5 wickets for the Volts who tried hard but Iain Robertson's 78 was their best effort. Big Mitch McClenaghan picked up 4 wickets for the Aces - 4/34 off 9.1 overs.
  • Central Districts must have caught wind of Auckland's effort and one-upped them putting 408 on the board, thanks to George Worker who blazed 195 off 145 balls. Worker was supported by Jamie How who chipped in with 60 but the Cantabrians were valiant in their response, bowled out for 353. Henry Nicholls, Neil Broom, Andrew Ellis and Todd Astle all passed 50, but no one could kick on for those extra 50 odd runs with Andrew Mathieson picking up a 5-for.

That Man Deserves A Mean Feed

  • Daryl Mitchell did his best Grant Elliot impersonation, but better and so he can have some chicken nuggets. Like as many as you want mate...
  • Guppy and Craig Cachopa might as well get a VIP pass at VIP Curries as they are in some fine form.
  • Well obviously George Worker deserves something, well he deserves some caviar but that's not really the Kiwi style. Hmmm, maybe and endless supply of whitebait.

Observations From The Observatory

  • Alecz Day is from the Sunshine Coast in Australia.
  • 78 and 2 wickets from Elliot? This guy wants to play in the World Cup.
  • Two hundy's and a fiddy from Guppy? This guy wants to play in the World Cup.
  • I told you about Craig Cachopa, I told you.
  • Jacob Duffy got the edge over Matt Quinn in the young swingers battle.
  • Runs, there's plenty of runs in the Ford Trophy but there's also plenty of wickets. It's bloody good cricket.
