Kiwi County Tour #16

Shit yeah Lord Jeetz!

We are nearing the end of our Kiwi County Tour and after enjoying a pretty damn good showing in the last round from Jeetan Patel and Hamish Marshall, the most recent round of County cricket action was far less pleasurable. We however have Lord Jeetz winning a 50-over title with Warwickshire though, so shout out to him.

Lord Jeetz took 2/28 off 9 overs for Warwickshire in their 8-wicket win over Surrey and Lord Jeetz finished the Royal London One-Day Cup competition with 22 wickets from 10 games. Lord Jeetz finished as the 2nd leading wicket-taker, with an average of 20.31 and a handy economy rate of 4.84rpo.

Derbyshire vs Leicestershire

Neil Broom's woes with the willow continued for Derbyshire as the kiwi battler could only manage 15 in Derbyshire's first innings. Derbyshire were dismissed for 307 and then took a decent lead after they dismissed Leicestershire for 247, giving Broom another opportunity at the crease. Unfortunately, Broom was trapped lbw for 3 and Derbyshire declared on 286/8, thus setting Leicestershire 347 to win.

Leicestershire were left stranded on 301/8 as this game fizzled to a draw, with Broom bowling 2 overs in the second innings. In his past five County games, Broom has a top-score of 42 and has put up four single-digit scores.

Neil Broom: 15, 3.

Northamptonshire vs Gloucestershire

Even Hamish Marshall struggled this round as his Gloucestershire fell victim for Northamptonshire by 114 runs. Northamptonshire hit 326 in their first innings and Marshall's 38 was the second highest score for Gloucs as they were dismissed for 261 in response.

Northamptonshire then went on to pile up the runs and build a strong lead, dismissed for 376 in their second innings which gave Gloucs a target of 442. Gloucs made a decent fist of the chase, but weren't helped by Marshall's dismissal for 0 off 2 balls as he was trapped lbw and Gloucs were all out for 327.

Hamish Marshall: 38, 0.

Worcestershire vs Sussex

Things got even worse, as Craig Cachopa did the double with back-to-back ducks for Sussex. Worcs batted first and hit 306 before Cachopa was bowled by young West Indian seamer Miguel Cummins with Sussex all our for 229 (Cummins took 7/84 and 5/82).

Worcestershire then hit 194 and set Sussex 272 to win, with Cachopa again coming in at No.3 and once again having his stumps skittled for a duck. Cachopa faced six deliveries in this game and finished with a big ol' 0 total runs as Sussex were all out for 260, 11 runs short of victory.

Craig Cachopa: 0, 0.

Lancashire vs Middlesex

James Franklin also got in on the duck action, but this came after he hit 31* in the first innings for Middlesex as they were all out for 327. Franklin then bowled 3 overs for 5 runs as Lancashire made their way to 259 all out and Franklin was again called upon to offer some runs down the order for Middlesex.

Franklin couldn't deliver though and was caught for 0 off 2 balls, with Middlesex declaring on 240/8 setting Lacashire 309 to win. Lancashire made their way to 80/1 in 26 overs before this game ended in a draw, with Franklin bowling 3 more overs for shit's and giggles.

James Franklin: 31*, 0/5 off 3, 0, 0/6 off 3.
