#KiwiWBBL03 Rua: Rachel Priest Chippin' In

Just one stick of dynamite, yet to see Priest blow up multiple dynamite...s

Just two games of Women's Big Bash League glory to suss, before things heat up again later on this week. Sara McGlashan's Sydney Sixers got a win over Thamsyn Newton's Perth Scorchers, while Rachel Priest was in action for Sydney Thunder as they got a win over Melbourne Stars.

Perth Scorchers turned the tables on Sydney Sixers in the replay of last summer's final, cruising to a nine-wicket win courtesy of an Elyse Villani fifty

There was a severe lack of input from Newton and McGlashan in their #KiwiWBBL battle, which was a bummer. McGlashan was first up to bat and came in at #5 where she scored 13 off 15 and it's always a good time when your only boundary comes in the form of a six, which helped nudge the Sixers over 100. They finished up on 122/8 off their 20 overs.

Other than helping with a run-out, Newton had a bit of a shocker as she only bowled 1ov and had 3 wides plus a no-ball in that over, conceding 9 runs in total. Not ideal when Newton's trying to keep her spot in the team and she was also the sixth bowler used, so she's not exactly an established WBBL player just yet and is still earning her stripes.

Newton wasn't required to bat as Perth chased down their target of 123 in the 19th over, having lost just a single wicket. How Newton contributes over the weekend will be off funky interest, Perth play Brisbane Heat again (Friday) in their only game and Perth beat them last weekend, so hopefully Newton can chip in with a few runs and wickets.

McGlashan will also feature in just one game, taking on Hobart Hurricanes on Sunday. While I'll be hoping for McGlashan to score a bunch of runs, she may not get the chance as I suspect we'll see the Sixers top-order be too good for Hobart.

After Melbourne Stars scored 114/8 off their 20 overs, Rachel Priest helped Sydney Thunder make light work of their run chase with Priest hitting 38 off 35 balls. This was Priest's first notable knock of WBBL03 after two failures last weekend and she'll be back in action against the Stars on Saturday.

A superb bowling performance set the tone before Rachael Haynes led the chase as the Thunder rolled to an eight-wicket win over the Melbourne Stars

This weekend will be huge for #KiwiWBBL as Suzie Bates and Sophie Devine will play two games against Amy Satterthwaite and Lea Tahuhu (Adelaide Strikers vs Melbourne Renegades). Saturday and Sunday, so prepare for some kiwi on kiwi WBBL crime.
