2019 Kiwi County Tour: Hamish Rutherford's Out There

The start of the Kiwi County Tour One-Day Cup excursion saw some solid performances from the whanau, with the highlight being Hamish Rutherford's century for Worcestershire. Otherwise, the opening stanza is best described as solid, with Lord Jeetz and Logan van Beek moving into 50-over mode, while Matt Quinn wasn't sighted for Essex.

Hamish Rutherford

Worcestershire vs Lancashire

Led by 108 @ 113.68sr from Rutherford at the top of the order, Worcestshire enjoyed a first up win by 125 runs. Worcestershire put up 367 all out in 49.1 overs and then dismissed Lancashire for 242 to give them the win. Having hit a hundy in his first County Championship appearance for Worcs, this was Rutherford's second century in a row.

Leicestershire vs Worcestershire

Their impressive first performance couldn't be repeated against Leicestershire, as Worcestershire went down by 38 runs. Leicestershire scored 377/4 batting first and Rutherford could only manage 8 runs before getting pegged lbw in the 7th over, by which time Worcs were 4 wickets down. There was an impressive fightback from Worcs, with some middle order shenanigans taking them to 339 all out in 46.2 overs.

Rutherford currently sits 31st in runs; 116 runs @ 58avg/109.43sr.

Logan van Beek

Derbyshire vs Northhamptonshire

Not required with the willow as his comrades worked their way to 268/6 in 50 overs vs Northamptonshire, van Beek chimed in with 3w @ 5rpo in 10 overs to help Derbyshire seal a win in their first game. Derbyshire had Northamptonshire all out for 215 in 43.5 overs and van Beek served up the most dot balls of all Derbyshire's bowlers ... he was also the only Derbyshire bowler to bowl 10ov. Van Beek was used alongside West Indian Ravi Rampaul as the new-ball operators and 2w for van Beek came in his opening spell; 2nd and 8th overs of the game.

Watch highlights as Billy Godleman hit 87 and Alex Hughes took 4-44 as Derbyshire beat Northants Steelbacks by 53 runs.

Derbyshire vs Nottinghamshire

Like Rutherford, van Beek suffered defeat in his second game as Notts enjoyed a 6-wicket win over Derbyshire. This time Derbyshire batted first and van Beek got a first ball ducky, on the last ball of the innings with Derbyshire scoring 297/8 in 50 overs. Derbyshire were playing without Rampaul and could only take 4w, as Notts chased down their target in 45.1ov. Van Beek bowled 6ov without a wicket @ 7.50rpo.

Jeetan Patel

Warwickshire vs Yorkshire

In the first of his 2-wicket-haul games, Lord Jeetz' Warwickshire had a draw against the big dawgs Yorkshire. Patel wasn't needed with the bat as Warwickshire put up 270/8 in their 50 overs and then took 2w @ 4.10rpo in his 10overs, which wasn't quite enough to lead Warwickshire to an early win. Lower order whacking from Yorkshire saw them finish on 270/9 and a draw was to be had.

Northamptonshire vs Warwickshrie

All the KCT lads suffered defeat in their second game, with Northamptonshire giving Warwickshire a wee hiding. Patel took 2w @ 5.50 in his 10 overs as Nothamptonshire steamed to 358/6 in 50 overs and Patel was the only bowler to concede less than 6rpo. Despite a nifty 10* off 8 balls from Lord Jeetz, Warwickshire were rolled for 164 in 34.4 overs.

Lord Jeetz is currently 21st in wickets; 4w @ 24avg/4.80rpo.
