2022/23 Super Smash: Update #4

Auckland (4th | 6 points | 1-1-1)

Auckland spinners last season...

  • Adithya Ashok: 14w @ 17.14avg/6.48rpo

  • Will Somerville: 8w @ 21.75avg/7.84rpo

  • Louis Delpot: 7w @ 18.28avg/8.43rpo

Auckland spinners this season...

  • Adithya Ashok: 2w @ 46.5avg/7.75rpo

  • Louis Delpot: 3w @ 28.66avg/8.6rpo

Mark Chapman's form slump...

  • Ford Trophy: 83 runs @ 13.83avg/84.69sr

  • Super Smash: 31runs @ 10.33avg/96.87sr

Northern (5th | 4 points | 1-2)

Northern have lost Colin de Grandhomme to BBL and Ish Sodhi to Cantebrury, which has been countered by the emergence of Kristian Clarke and Tim Pringle. Both have played in all three formats this season and while most whip up fantasy Northern-Blackcaps line ups, Northern quietly churn out new youngsters every season. Clarke's a seamer who scored a Plunket Shield half-century and Pringle is part of Northern's spin stable.

Kristian Clarke

  • Plunket Shield: 154 runs @ 19.25avg | 8w @ 38.5avg/3.45rpo

  • Ford Trophy: 9w @ 20avg/5.24rpo

  • Super Smash: 8 runs @ 266.66sr | 4w @ 23.25avg/9.3rpo

Tim Pringle

  • Plunket Shield: 4w @ 33.5avg/2.62rpo

  • Ford Trophy: 3w @ 78.33avg/5.34rpo

  • Super Smash: 2w @ 32avg/6.4rpo

Central (2nd | 8 points | 2-1 )

Josh Clarkson currently has the most runs with the highest strike-rate in Super Smash. Clarkson is 2nd for runs with 159 runs @ 79.5avg/214.86sr which is better than Finn Allen, while Allen's Wellington comrade Nick Kelly is the only other notable run-scorer nudging 200sr. Clarkson has a career record of 30.14avg/153.77sr.

Could Ajaz Patel make a timely return to Central's Super Smash 1st 11? Patel played six games last season with 2w @ 79avg/10.53rpo, while Central have found value in Jayden Lennox who has 4w @ 24.25avg/9.7rpo this season.

Wellington (1st | 12 points | 3-0)

Rachin Ravindra is the best player on the best team. Ravindra is 7th for runs and 4th for wickets, making him the leading bowler for Wellington and he only sits behind Allen for Wellington run-scoring. Ravindra is operating above his T20 career strike-rate of 124.8 and well below his career bowling strike-rate of 20.7...

  • Bat: 102 runs @ 51avg/139.72sr

  • Ball: 5w @ 17.2avg/7.81rpo/13.2sr

While Allen will depart with Blackcaps, Tom Blundell should return to strengthen the foundations around Ravindra. Wellington have a hyper-aggressive batting unit that helps Ravindra wiggle through his innings and leggy/skipper Peter Younghusband has 4w @ 14avg/5.6rpo as Wellington's most economical bowler. This eases pressure on Ravindra and allows him to play the role his team requires.

Canterbury (6th | 4 points | 1-3)

Henry Shipley's white ball form...

  • Ford Trophy: 12w @ 11.91avg/4.2rpo

  • Super Smash: 6w @ 14.66avg/7.65rpo

Canterbury have a bunch of seamers stashed away, so we need to tap in when someone settles into their bowling unit. This summer the focus is on Will O'Rourke who has played in all three formats, churning out Plunket Shield overs while also taking wickets in limited overs cricket...

  • Plunket Shield: 131.1ov, 13w @ 28avg/2.77rpo

  • Ford Trophy: 20.1ov, 5w @ 20.2avg/5rpo

  • Super Smash: 9.1ov, 3w @ 27avg/8.83rpo

Otago (3rd | 6 points | 1-2-1)

Dean Foxcroft is 1st for runs and wickets at the time of writing. Here's what he has done in each game...

  • vs Wellington: 73 runs @ 128sr | 2w @ 3.5rpo

  • vs Northern: 12 runs @ 70.58sr | 1w @ 8.75rpo

  • vs Auckland: 44 runs @ 129.41sr | 5w @ 2.75rpo

  • vs Auckland: 69 runs @ 123.21sr | 1w @ 5rpo

Llew Johnson has scored 90 runs @ 22.5avg/163.63sr, with 10 sixes and no fours.
