Fan Boy shit - Action Bronson

"I walk in, the chef calls me chef that's my label"

If you ain't know by now, Action Bronson is the best chef turned rapper, ever. He may even be one of the best rappers period, but that's dependent on personal taste. I can't judge his cooking either as I haven't been blessed to have him prepare a meal for me, but he would definitely win any dumb TV cooking show.

As part of the New York renaissance, Bronson hails from Queens and has bars to prove it. He has been spittin' his rhymes and complex rhyme schemes since his debut mixtape 'Bon Apetit....Bitch' early in 2011 which was soon followed by his debut studio album 'Dr Lecter' not too long after. Harping back to the good old days, Bronson has released a heap of material in only a matter of years. While other rappers succeed in releasing catchy singles that get the streets nodding their heads, Mr Bronson has been on the grind convincing the world that his skills are for real. In two and a bit years, Bronson has released four mixtapes and two albums. You do the math.

Action Bronson has a bunch of producers that he likes to collab with, most notably Statik Selektah, Harry Fraud, Party Supplies and the Alchemist. For some perspective, Harry Fraud has produced for the likes of Smoke DZA, Mac Miller and Curren$y while both Statik Selektah and the Alchemist are production OG's. The thing that I enjoy most about Action Bronson's music is that the uncertainty of what sounds you are going to hear from a production perspective is only matched by the uncertainty of what Action is going to say on the beats. The beats he raps on, rarely resemble the classic sound of hip hop but somehow each song reminds you of what a legit MC is. He says the most outlandish lines, being overly descriptive yet maintaining fluidity and can somehow make what feels like 20 lines fit in to two bars.  His rap topics range from females to food and everything in between, but generally revolve around his story telling ability and unmatched word play.

"Kush is by prescription, prolific in the kitchen

People on my dick because I'm vicious with the diction"

His story telling ability is loud and clear but witty. 'Hookers at the point' gives us lil' Kiwi's a taste of American whore's and some big pimpin. While not everybody's cup of tea ... well if it's not your cup of tea you obviously don't appreciate the art of matching words, stories and music.

Everything with Bronson is simple. He is what he is, don't take him seriously. He in no way shape or form, tries to be something that he isn't and is more than comfortable with himself. If you don't like him move on to the next, but I'm telling you, you'll struggle to find raps like his. While more 'favourable' MC's get a lot of the limelight , Action Bronson will always be there. He'll always be there spitting out quotables like an ATM machine hacked by Barnaby Jack. If you want to impress your mates with witty lines that will leave them in awe, get a hold of some Action Bronson songs and you'll be sorted.

A dear friend had this to say when asked about Mr Action - "He just raps for fun. Nearly all his songs are jokes. He is fat as fuck and raps about doing triple back flips, diving into water with no splash." How can you argue with that?
