2010 Junior Kiwis Notes
Since 2010, the Junior Kiwis have faced their Junior Kangaroos rivals in fixtures that have run parallel to the NRL's Under 20s competition. Many of these Junior Kiwis teams have been overlooked, mainly because the great Niche Cache didn't exist back in 2010, that plus the growth of kiwi rugby league has led me to revisit these teams and offer up a bunch of thoughts/notes on each JK team or squad since 2010. We'll start with 2010 and then get amongst each year since then over the next few weeks.
2010 saw two fixtures, which meant two JK teams.
1. Glen Fisiiahi 2. Bill Tupou 3. Siuatonga Likiliki 4. Dean Whare 5. Drury Low 6. Carlos Tuimavave 7. Shaun Johnson 8. Lama Tasi 9. Matt McIlwrick 10. Martin Taupau (c) 11. Jason Taumalolo 12. Mark Ioane 13. Sebastine Ikahihifo 14. Sam Mataora 15. Nafe Seluini 16. Sam Lousi 17. Isaac Maliota.

Nine Warriors were named in these teams, of which only Shaun Johnson is still with the Warriors. Johnson is also the only Warrior from this JK team who is a consistent NRL player, the only guy named in the NRL this weekend.
Fisiiahi and Lousi are playing rugby union with Waikato Chiefs and NSW Waratahs.
Tupou, Tuimavave and Ioane are playing in England.
Tupou left the Warriors to join Canberra.
Tuimavave left the Warriors to join Newcastle.
Ioane left the Warriors for the Gold Coast and then the Dragons.
Likiliki and Seluini are playing in the Intrust Super Cup in Queensland. Seluini featured in the NRL Nines with Melbourne Storm as is playing for Sunshine Coast, who are the Storm's feeder club. Likiliki joined the Knights and then Gold Coast while Seluini went to Penrith and the Roosters.
Ikahihifo was signed by St George Dragons at the end of last season, toiling away in NSW's Intrust Super Premiership with Illawara where he's been playing prop.
Lama Tasi is now playing in England after stints with the Roosters and Broncos.
Martin Taupau and Jason Taumalolo have probably been the most successful players from this group. Taumalolo gets the nod over Taupau in that regard as he's won a Premiership with the Cowboys, both are Kiwis.
Dean Whare has been fairly impressive since then as well. He's a Kiwis centre and successfully moved from Manly to Penrith.
Paki Afu was picked in this team from Canterbury Bulldogs' Under 20s team and after being signed by Parramatta, going on a Mormon mission and playing for Otahuhu and Point Chev in Auckland, Afu was signed by the Roosters for the 2016 season.
Sam Mataora has started to establish himself in the NRL with Newcastle Knights under Nathan Brown. Mataora was a Canberra Raiders Under 20s star but couldn't really kick on with the Raiders first grade side and moved to Newcastle in 2014. Now he's starting at prop with the Knights and as the Knights rebuild their club, look out for Mataora to finally fullfil his potential.
Matt McIllwrick was also selected from the Raiders and the gritty hooker/lock couldn't really find a consistent gig with the Raiders. He then moved to the Roosters where he found some success as Jake Friend's back up and was signed by the Sharks for the 2016 season. McIllwrick has been playing hooker for Newtown Jets, who are the Sharks' feeder club.
Drury Low was playing for Narellan Jets in 2015, who knows what he's up to now. Narellan is a little spot South West of Sydney.
Kane Morgan was a Rabbitohs junior who has vanished after being mentioned alongside Nathan Peats as player with some potential.
Isaac Maliota was playing for Wentworthville Magpies after a stint with Newtown Jets before moving to France, who knows what he's up to now.
