Four Nations - Key Men

She's shaping to be an interesting Four Nations this year with a lot happening around the competition. Whether it's Jarryd Hayne leaving the game or Tautau Moga apparently being arrested, there's plenty of shenanigans that could distract you from the pleasure of watching international rugby league. We love international rugby league so of course, we've got it covered. Here's the key men for each team involved.

Greg Inglis - The Kangaroos still boast an awesome squad despite many of their top shelf lads not included for whatever reason. Inglis should get the fullback spot in the big games and obviously has the ability to break games open, we know all about that. But Inglis joins the Kangaroos a different man this time around, he's a leader and he'll have a much greater impact in terms of leading by example and ensuring the players are on the same page fighting for a common cause. While the likes of Cameron Smith, Cooper Cronk etc will be huge for the Kangaroos, Inglis will impact games much more. Whether it's his kick return or hunting around the ruck, Inglis will be keen to get involved. I'm actually really excited to see Inglis hold such a position in the Kangaroos, we could see him continue to add to his already freakish legacy.

Pita Godinet - Little Godinet, the first question is where will he play? He could either find himself at dummy half or in the halves. With Ben Roberts and Penani Manumalealii in the squad, I'm leaning towards them being the halves pairing with Godinet at 9 and Kyle Stanley likely to come off the bench like he did for the Dragons. As is usually the case with the Samoans, they have the power, the skill and the size to compete but the clinical execution usually lets them down thanks to not really having halves who control the game. That all starts with Godinet and how he controls the game from the ruck - his running game is good enough to keep defenders honest while he has the skills of a half which will see him put kicks in and deliver crisp passes. If Godinet is on form, expect the job of Roberts and Manumalealii to be a lot easier and the Samoans will be harder to defend as they'll have a few more options.

Jesse Bromwich - He's had an awesome NRL season and could make the Kiwis a tricky team to defend against. I could have easily pointed towards Shaun Johnson and Kieran Foran as the key men, but when you back track a wee bit, you'll see that it all starts with Bromwich. The footwork of Bromwich could rival Roger Tuivasa-Sheck, ok maybe not but he's a hot stepper and he's able to get in between defenders. That either allows and off load, a quick play the ball or a line break which will give the Kiwis a great platform to attack from. The Kiwis boast a very mobile, athletic and hot stepping pack - Bromwich, Greg Eastwood, Jason Taumalolo, Tohu Harris and Kevin Proctor which will give them a dynamic edge. Bromwich is the poster boy and will lead from the front.

Gareth Widdop - The English boast a great squad that could make a few waves, but they'll only do so if Widdop can add the touches of class needed. They'll compete up front and they've got some low key talent out wide, but Widdop's ability to execute plays and get repeat sets will be huge. The longer the English are still in the contest against the Kiwis and Aussies the better chance they'll have to win so Widdop's gotta lead his lads in to the grind. He showed this season that he's a gun running the ball as well as kicking for corners and generally leading this troops around the park. On top of that, you have the saucy potential for his combination with not only Sam Tomkins but also the big boppers. I'm thinking James Graham at first receiver, out the back to Widdop who'll be an equal threat running the ball as we would giving Tomkins early ball with some space.
