NRL Round 7 Preview

Rabbitohs vs Bulldogs

Matchup - Kyle Turner vs Tony Williams. The T-Rex has been simmering away on some decent form for a few weeks and he'll line up against the rookie Turner. A great test for both men.

Key men - Apisai Koroisau and Cameron McInnes. Both teams like to play direct footy through the middle and for the Bunnies it all starts with their dummy half. These two are finding their feet at NRL level and hold the key to unlocking the Bunnies.

Keep an eye on - Greg Eastwood. He was a beast last week and will have to go to another gear this week ... plus he's playing for a kiwis spot.

Verdict - Bulldogs <12. The Dogs have probably the best pack in the game and have the range of options to break down the Bunnies D.

Knights vs Broncos

Matchup - Joseph Leilua vs Justin Hodges. Hodgo is doing what he does best and Leilua is possibly one of the best centres going around at the moment. Great battle awaits.

Key men - Josh Hoffman. With Tyrone Roberts and Jarrod Mullen, the Knights can attack from anywhere. Hoffman has to start executing simple, classy plays if the Broncos are going to match the Knights.

Keep an eye on - Josh Mantellato. One of the best wingers in the NSW Cup in recent years, he gets a run on the wing for Newcastle. Played for Italy at the World Cup so obviously goes alright.

Verdict - Knights <12. Never underestimate the influence of Jarrod Mullen along with Darius Boyd. The Knights are much better with these two leading the way.

Sea Eagles vs Cowboys

Matchup - Glenn Stewart vs Jason Taumalolo. Two weeks in a row for Stewart, but this matchup is too hard to ignore.

Key men - Jonathan Thurston. He's been able to sit behind the work of Robert Lui and Michael Morgan so far, but the Cowboys need to start racking up some wins. JT will have to be on point for the Cowboys to have a chance.

Keep an eye on - Curtis Rona getting a start on the wing for the Cowboys, we saw him at the Nines and now he gets a chance in first grade.

Verdict - Sea Eagles <12. The Cowboys have done a fair bit of travel and the Sea Eagles are nearing their best.

Dragons vs Warriors

Matchup - Josh Dugan vs Sam Tomkins. Two great broken play ball runners, Dugan's been very solid recently while Tomkins has not. It'll be interesting to see who has the greater impact.

Key men - Simon Mannering. He's finally been shifted to lock and he has a chance to make that his position his own. Hundy's effort on D and leadership will be his prerogative.

Keep an eye on - How much time Siliva Havili gets and when he comes on. He showed that he's a good ball runner and his enthusiasm could get the Warriors on the front foot.

Verdict - Warriors <12. Some changes have been made which make sense and if they loose, this will be the last time I ever pick them.

Sharks vs Roosters

Matchup - Andrew Fifita vs Jared Waerea-Hargreaves. Two of the best props in the game who will be out to ruffle a few feathers.

Key men - All Mitchell Pearce has to do is get the Roosters down the right end of the field and they'll win.

Keep an eye on - Ricky Leutele has done reasonably well in a Sharks team that has struggled consistently. He's a solid centre with a big future.

Verdict - Roosters >12. Easy.

Raiders vs Storm

Matchup - Terry Campese vs Cooper Cronk. Campese is nearing his best while we've seen glimpses of Cronk's class recently.

Key men - Kevin Proctor and Ryan Hoffman. A lot of Canberra's attack will come down the edges and these two will have to be very strong especially with Anthony Milford floating around.

Keep an eye on - Ben Roberts actually played pretty well last week and the Storm look better with his experience on the field. Consistency is the key.

Verdict - Storm <12. They'll get in to the grind and then fire shots from every where.

Eels vs Tigers

Matchup - Tim Mannah/Fuifui Moimoi vs Aaron Woods/Keith Galloway. Props who do what props do best.

Key men - Braith Anasta comes back for the Tigers and with Kurtis Rowe out the back, Anasta's experience will be crucial.

Keep an eye on - Joel Luani in for Robbie Farah. Farah's absence is huge, but if Luani can just do his job the Tigers will be ok.

Verdict - Eels <12 Absolute toss up. Leaning towards the Eels though.

Panthers vs Titans

Matchup - Sika Manu vs Greg Bird. Two nuggets who have footwork and skill on the edge.

Key men - Matt Moylan has to chime in on attack for the Panthers. They look so much better when he's getting his hands on the ball and didn't do it enough last week.

Keep an eye on - Ryan James making his return. He's had big wraps but has spent the start of the season in the Intrust Super Cup.

Verdict - Panthers <12. They should have enough fire power to take care of the Titans at home.
