The Panel

Standout performer

Chief Biggums - Daly Cherry-Evans. The kids pure talent and the future of Queensland's halves. Hugely involved in the game as he had a hand in the majority of Manly's tries as well as line breaks for himself and the team. Class all around, with many years ahead of him.

Mystery Doctor - Really hard to ignore DCE's effort. Not much to add really, he's a future king pin.

The Bain - Even though the Raiders were awful I will go with young Daly Cherry-Evans. He was just on fire. Leading the way with Kieran Foran out injured. Watch out Cooper Cronk, DCE is coming for your origin spot.

Senor Spectre You can’t look past Daly Cherry Evans. He had in everything and I mean everything. Unlucky to be sitting behind Cooper Cronk in the Aussie queue for the no.7 jersey. He is the goods.

Battler making his mark

Chief Biggums - I'd like to say Simon Mannering. The game on Friday showed that he's still relevant in the NRL. He's definitely no human highlight reel, but a team can't be all attack no defense and for the Warriors he's a big part of it. Made 34 tackles, missed 1 (he's human) and ran for 110 metres.

Mystery Doctor - Jake Granville is a pure bred battler, but he adds a lot to the Broncos with a bit of spark out of dummy half.

Jake Granville #battler

The Bain - Chad Townsend. Has looked average at best in previous games this season but he showed some promising signs. Was solid on defence and helped the Warriors to their big win over the Storm.

Senor SpectreAnthony Watmough keeps turning it on for the Sea Eagles. Late inclusion after passing a fitness test he was as busy as ever and even dotted over for a try. Gives away some stupid penalties but more than makes up for it elsewhere.

Biggest thing you learnt

Chief Biggums - Queensland - no wonder the streak continues every year. No matter how bad they doing in the past few weeks of NRL, when they know Origins coming soon, it's like they hit a switch and turn on this ridiculous turbo Queensland mode - just like G.I, Thurston has it, even Cherry-Evans has one. Still waiting for NSW to find theirs.

Mystery Doctor - Cheer up Chief. The teams who offer the least spark and class will finish at the bottom of the table this season - Raiders, Knights and Sharks ... ya'll better start copying the Titans or look towards 2015.

The Bain - Thing I learnt: the comp just gets even more bizarre. Sharks beating the Panthers, Warriors beating the storm, Titans over the tigers, the seesaw nature and finish in the Brroncos Rabbits match. Then Manly were on 42 points within the half hour!

Senor SpectreAnzac Day was a beaut. Service in the morning, a few chores and then bang 3 back to back games of league to finish the day off. Roosters came up trumps, Warriors continued to be the Storm’s bogey team and Souths won it late over the Bronco’s.

Young Gun Watch

Chief Biggums - Peta Hiku, he's fast becoming the fix-it man for Manly, slot him anywhere in the back line and it's as if he's been playing their the whole year. Hopefully he plays well in the ANZAC test even if the team isn't the strongest. Regardless he's still got plenty of time to develop.

Mystery Doctor - Everyone has had questions about Ben Henry, but upon his return to the NRL he's showing why he keeps getting a run. Tough, quick enough, strong and skillful ... all he needs is consistent footy.

The Bain - Alex Johnston. Taking Nathan Merrits place on the wing he sure did impress. Scored a great try and was evasive. Was the stunt double for GI a few years ago too.

Senor SpectreAlex Johnston got his debut for the Rabbits and duly scored in the corner as good wingers do. Could be set for a decent stint with Nathan Merritt in reserve grade and Inglis to head off to Origin soon...

Most impressive team performance

Chief Biggums - The Warriors, because I was impressed that they won. They beat the Storm, in Melbourne and coming off a loss. The most impressive fact for me was that they only won by 6 points. At any moment in the game, they could have lost it or just thrown it away - to their credit their brain explosions were kept to a minimum and at the end of the day they got the 2 competition points.

Mystery Doctor - There were a few - Titans and Warriors for guts while the Sea Eagles for sublime footy.

The Bain - Team performance: there were a few great games. But I'm gonna go with the Warriors over the storm. Away from home, troubled team environment, strong storm line up etc. But they out played the storm in most facets. Most impressive for mine was that their defence held strong throughout.

Senor Spectre The Warriors actually. Their goal line defence was some of the best you’ll ever see from them. There was just something about their attitude in that game. They hunted down anything and everything. Why can’t they always do that!!

Team/player that needs a hug

Chief Biggums - The Broncos but then again not really. It always sucks to lose by two points, especially when it's a penalty that could have also been not a penalty. Then again because their the Broncos, I know they'll come flying out the blocks when they get back on the field. So maybe more of a pat on the shoulder, than a hug.

Mystery Doctor - Ricky Stuart ... but you have to give him the hug cos I hate the bugger.

Poor fella

The Bain - The Raiders. They just did not even turn up. Woeful at best. Also send a hug to the Broncos. I feel the souths were the better side but that late penalty was pretty dodgy to be honest. A bit unlucky!

Senor Spectre Poor Glen Stewart was keen to finish his career at the SeaEagles but they couldn’t fit him under the cap. He’s off to the Rabbits next year, but all concerned seem pretty guttered about it, not least himself. Is it the start of the Manly exodus...?
