Diary of a Warriors fan
This week's entry was going to be short and sweet. Another low, another typical Warriors performance where they were out enthused and generally out played. Another gut wrenching drop on the rollercoaster.
Then came the news. Mathew Elliot to resign.
I think he would have been told to resign let's be honest.
But it makes sense because that Warriors team that played Cronulla didn't look like a team who were desperate to play for a coach. They looked like a team who would rather be sippin' lattes, checking their instagram feeds and just having a laugh with each other, not a team who want to win the comp.
Who is to blame? I don't know. The players hold such power at Mt Smart it is troubling. If someone is not coaching them how they like, they get the flick.
It looks like we have a few players who are comfortable and not enough players who are desperate to perform in first grade each week. Guys who have had it all pretty easily, not those who will do whatever it takes ... even if it is listening to a coach you might not agree with.
Mathew Elliot was a good guy. Who knows if he had what was needed to get them playing consistent footy.
We must now look to what is next. Maybe it was the right move and the team will find a new lease of life. Maybe a they might find a new coach and go through it all again. Who knows.
It's just another day on the rollercoaster.
