NRL Round 12
Panthers vs Eels
Matchup - James Segeyaro vs Nathan Peats. Two of the best young hookers in the game right now, these two both have many exciting and tough aspects to their game.
Key men - Elijah Taylor will have to be very strong defensively on the edge to stop Parramatta's powerful ball runners.
Keep an eye on - Ryan Morgan starting in the centres replacing Willie Tonga and Lee Mossop to make a possible debut for the Eels. He's another English lad.
Verdict - Panthers <12. Who knows whether Jarryd Hayne will lace up, but the Panthers look very tough and have some variety. Their halves will need to be on point though.
Roosters vs Raiders
Matchup - Sonny Bill Williams vs Josh Papalii. SBW likes to line up on the right, Papalii on the left and both have so much to offer their respective teams.
Key man - Anthony Milford. The Raiders won't be graced with many opportunities and when they are they will need the class and x factor of Milford to ensure points.
Keep an eye on - Mitch Cornish off the bench for the Raiders, talented kid.
Verdict - Roosters >12. Don't be fooled by the Raiders last week.
Cowboys vs Storm
Matchup - Ray Thompson vs Ben Roberts. I was going to call them the supporting cast but with Cooper Cronk out, Roberts will play an important role. Both will have to shoulder a fair amount of the play making duties.
Key man - Robert Lui off the bench. He'll probably come on at dummy half or push Thompson to dummy half, but Lui needs to get himself in the action and influence proceedings ... positively.
Keep an eye on - How the Storm line up. Could Cam Smith move to halfback? Could someone like Ben Hampton come in to the halves? Who knows, + I'm unsure whether Billy Slater can back up like he used to with his knees the way they are.
Verdict - Cowboys <12. Up in Townsville, Cronk out.
Warriors vs Knights
Matchup - Konrad Hurrell/Ngani Laumape vs Joey Leilua/Dane Gagai. Two pairs of totally different body types, both with advantages and disadvantages. It'll be great viewing as both teams use their centres as attacking weapons.
Key man - Tyrone Roberts. The Knights need the spark and enthusiasm that Roberts has shown in glimpses throughout his short career.
Keep an eye on - The return of Sam Rapira.
Verdict - Warriors <12. She'll be a bruiser but if the Warriors can match up, they'll have the fire power.
Broncos vs Sea Eagles
Matchup - Ben Barba vs Brett Stewart. Which Barba will we witness?
Key man - Matt Ballin, he's got it all and with Manly welcoming back a few players Ballin will need to ensure everything is delivered on a platter.
Keep an eye on - Kieran Foran returning which gives the Sea Eagles their first game in a while with both Foran and Daly Cherry-Evans in the halves.
Verdict - Manly >12. The Broncos will be slightly weakened and expect Manly to be firing on all cylinderrs.
Rabbitohs vs Dragons
Matchup - Sam Burgess vs Trent Merrin. Two props who play lock because they are more than capable of doing so.
Key man - Gareth Widdop. When the Dragons were in form it was thanks to Widdop, he hasn't had as big an impact in recent times.
Keep an eye on - Peter Mata'utia getting a run in the centres for the Dragons. Decent player just needs consistent opportunity.
Verdict - Rabbitohs <12. The Dragons will put up a fair fight, but the Bunnies will ooze class.
